1) The Elefriends online community for people with mental health issues grew quickly within its first year on Facebook, with over 4,000 members. However, the community felt restricted by Facebook's policies and lack of control.
2) In response, Elefriends decided to build their own independent online community site. They conducted research with members to understand what features and design principles were important.
3) Elefriends.org.uk was launched as the new home for the community, allowing them greater control over content, data, and design while still providing members with a peer-led support space both online and in real life meetups.
Here are some tips for managing interruptions:
- Set aside blocks of time for uninterrupted work and communicate this to others.
- Let calls go to voicemail during focused time and return them later.
- Close your office door or set an "out of office" notification when focusing.
- Deal with interruptions quickly and get back to your task.
- Schedule meetings back-to-back to minimize disruption to your schedule.
- Learn to say no politely to unnecessary requests that interrupt your priorities.
- Check emails at set times rather than constantly throughout the day.
The key is being proactive, setting boundaries, and focusing on your most important tasks without distraction.
