BTE (Behind the Ear) hearing aids fit a mold of the outer ear and ear canal. They connect to a headset through a catheter. BTEs can be used for all types of hearing loss and are preferred for losses requiring more amplification. ITE (In the Ear) models are custom molded to each individual ear. They house electronics intraauricularly. ITEs can adapt to losses requiring high amplification. ITE (In the Canal) models use a mold of the outer third of the ear canal, making them less visible. They are suitable for medium losses not requiring high magnification.
