Basell Australia engaged Uhde to expand Basell's polypropylene plant in Geelong, Victoria from 2001-2003 for AUD $70 million. The project increased the plant's capacity from 70,000 tonnes to 130,000 tonnes annually by adding a new 70-meter tall, 250-tonne distillation tower to purify feedstock for polypropylene production. Uhde provided engineering, project management, and construction management services for the plant expansion.

Project Description
Uhde was engaged to provide engineering, project management and construction management services for the
expansion of the polypropylene plant operated by Basell at Geelong. The project increased the capacity of the plant
from 70 KT to 130 KT.
The centrepiece of the new facilities is a new distillation tower (PP Splitter) which puri鍖es the feedstock from local
re鍖nery and petrochemical plants to the level necessary for polypropylene production. The splitter is 70 meters high
and in excess of 250 tonnes and was fabricated within Australia, it was transported to site by barge.
