ESF 921 is a protein-free medium designed to maximize expression of proteins in a variety of insect cell types including Sf9, Sf21, Tni PRO, High FiveTM and S2 cells by delivering robust cell growth and higher specific productivity; Sf9 cells grown in ESF 921 in shake flasks at a density of 7.5x105 cells/ml showed typical viability over 97% during log-growth and appeared round and shiny with no clumping.
