The document describes opposition to the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem from local officials who question the Jews' authority to do so. It recounts the history of the Temple's destruction by Nebuchadnezzar and its rebuilding under Cyrus' decree. The local officials write to King Darius asking him to search records to confirm Cyrus' decree allowing reconstruction of the Temple.
The document provides materials for a Bible study on the Solemnity of Christ the King, including commentary on the readings. The first reading from 2 Samuel describes how the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and anointed him as their king. The responsorial psalm expresses joy in going to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. The second reading from Colossians emphasizes Christ's primacy and preeminence over all creation as the image of God. The gospel reading recounts the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus, with one showing faith by asking Jesus to remember him in paradise.
The document discusses evidence from the Old Testament that suggests Jesus existed with God the Father from the beginning. It notes that the Hebrew letter Aleph represents God and an ox/bull, pointing to the Father and Son. Other Hebrew letters like Lamed represent concepts like guide and authority that apply to the relationship between the Father and Son. The document presents additional examples from Scripture depicting the Father and Son sharing glory and power, such as the two crowns on the table of showbread.
The document discusses the concept of the "book of life" from the Bible. It covers:
1) The different mentions of the "book of life" in scripture and related concepts in the Old Testament.
2) Key themes around the book of life - the importance of keeping records, the book of life and other books, God's just judgement, names being blotted out or confessed, and its connection to access to the tree of life.
3) Final exhortations around God desiring obedience over blotting out names, the fair process of individual judgement according to works, and the hope of salvation for those found written in the book of life.
1) Ezra teaches that God will forgive his people and heal their land if they humble themselves, pray, seek God's face, and turn from wicked ways.
2) Ezra led the rebuilding of the temple and reformation of the Jewish people when they returned from exile in Babylon.
3) Ezra was devoted to studying and teaching God's law, and worked to correct the intermarriage of Jewish men with foreign women.
A verse by verse commentary on DEUTERONOMY 8 dealing with God teaching His people that "man does not live by bread alone," and that they will only live and prosper by living in obedience to His laws.
The document is a Bible study guide that provides an outline and commentary for the Sunday readings which focus on the Epiphany of the Lord. It summarizes the first reading from Isaiah about the light of the Lord shining upon the Israelites and nations coming to their light. The responsorial psalm calls for just rulers. The second reading from Ephesians discusses Paul's stewardship in revealing the mystery that Gentiles are coheirs in Christ. The Gospel reading recounts the story of the Magi following the star to find Jesus and worship him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Ashdod was one of the five major Philistine cities located along the Mediterranean coast. The people of Ashdod worshipped Dagon, a fish-god idol, and attempted to integrate their worship of Dagon with worship of the God of Israel by bringing the Ark of God to the temple of Dagon. However, God demonstrated his power over Dagon by causing the idol to fall and break before the Ark. Integration with false gods leads to their mineralization and the demise of those who worship them, as integrating foreign beliefs corrupts and destroys God's people. God will judge those who worship other gods and integrate false beliefs.

The document discusses God's plan to gather the remnants of Israel from around the world and bring them back to Jerusalem. It provides several Bible verses that prophesy this gathering. It argues that we are in the time when these prophecies will be fulfilled, and calls on the remnants to arise and help build up Jerusalem as God has commanded. The overall message is that God will restore Israel and gather them back to their homeland as promised in the Scriptures.
1) The document provides background information on the book of Deuteronomy, including its Greek and Hebrew names. It discusses the structure of Deuteronomy and how it resembles ancient treaties.
2) It summarizes chapters 1-3 of Deuteronomy, including Moses appointing leaders to help govern Israel, their failure to enter the promised land at Kadesh Barnea, and years of wandering before battles against Sihon and Og east of the Jordan River.
3) Key events discussed include the appointment of tribal leaders, rebellion against God at Kadesh, 40 years of wandering, battles against Sihon and Og that led to territorial gains east of the Jordan.
Minor Prophet & their Message - Zephaniah (2)Simon Fuller
油
The document provides an overview of a Bible study on the prophet Zephaniah and his message. It discusses:
1. An introduction to Zephaniah, including the meaning of his name and the times he prophesied during King Josiah.
2. A summary of Zephaniah's message, including judgements on Judah, surrounding nations like Moab and Ammon, and Jerusalem for their sins.
3. The prophecy also contains messages of salvation, including God turning to the nations with a pure language and leaving behind a humble, faithful remnant after passing judgements. It will culminate in the restoration of Jerusalem where God dwells among them.
This document presents biblical passages that discuss the future restoration of Israel and the Jewish people to their homeland, the re-establishment of the throne of David and a Jewish kingdom in Jerusalem, and the rebuilding of the Third Temple. It argues that these prophecies will be fulfilled based on God's eternal promises and covenants with Israel. The document aims to establish the scriptural basis for why the Jewish people have an inherent right and title to the land of Israel as their eternal inheritance from God.
The document provides an introduction to the Book of Ezra in the Bible. It discusses that Ezra was likely the author and dates the book between 456-444 BC. It describes the historical background of the Jewish people returning to Jerusalem after 70 years of exile in Babylon, with the help of Persian kings like Cyrus and Darius. The outline presented divides the book into two parts - the return under Zerubbabel and the rebuilding of the temple, and the return under Ezra and his spiritual revival efforts. Key events and people involved are also summarized.
The document discusses the history and significance of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It provides biblical references showing that King David purchased the land where the Temple Mount sits from Ornan the Jebusite in order to build an altar to God. God showed his approval of the location by answering David with fire from heaven. King Solomon later built the first Jewish temple on this site, as God had chosen this location. The document argues that as the location was purchased and dedicated to God, he has eternal rights over it and will defend it. It claims Jerusalem will not be fully holy until foreign influences are removed from the Temple Mount.

God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, saying He will put breath in them and make them live again. As Ezekiel prophesies, the bones come together with sinews and flesh and breath, becoming a vast army. God explains that the bones represent Israel believing their hope is lost, but He will save them.
The document discusses the completion of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. It describes how the prophets Haggai and Zechariah encouraged the Jewish leaders to rebuild. When the Samaritans opposed the rebuilding, the Jewish leaders received a decree from King Darius permitting reconstruction. The document is a passage from the book of Zechariah describing several visions received by Zechariah. It discusses an angel being sent to measure and survey Jerusalem, indicating the city will be prosperous and protected by God's presence. God calls for His people to return from exile. The passage promises God will dwell among His people in Jerusalem and Judah, and references the coming Messiah. It encourages singing for joy at God's promises but also calls for being silent before God out of respect and in anticipation of His judgment.
The Book of Zechariah is a Jewish text attributed to Zechariah, a Hebrew prophet of the late 6th century BC. In the Hebrew Bible, the text is included as part of the Twelve Minor Prophets, itself a part of the second division of that work.
iLEAD: A Study in Nehemiah_Holy DiscontentStephen Palm
油
This document provides an overview of the biblical book of Nehemiah and highlights three key points about developing a "Holy Discontent". The first point is that a Holy Discontent arises when believers are distressed by the same issues that grieve God. The second point is that confession of sin is important to transform feelings of distress into a Discontent that motivates action. The third point is that a Holy Discontent will ultimately compel believers to take holy actions to address the problems upsetting God. The document uses the story of Nehemiah mourning over Jerusalem's destruction as an example of developing a Holy Discontent through prayer and seeking God's favor to motivate rebuilding the city walls.
The document discusses the kingdom of God/heaven as presented in the books of Daniel and Revelation in the Bible. It summarizes that Daniel foretold of four kingdoms that would arise, with the final kingdom being God's eternal kingdom. Jesus preached about the kingdom of God and that it had come near. After his resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven and the Holy Spirit descended, empowering the church to spread the gospel and establish God's kingdom on earth.
The document discusses several biblical passages that illustrate the high cost of ignoring God. It describes how the Israelites faced obstacles in conquering the Promised Land due to their disobedience but were able to take the land when obedient. It also discusses how Solomon, Manasseh and others led Israel away from God through their actions and how prophets foretold judgment for lack of knowledge and obedience.

Solomon builds the Temple in Jerusalem to provide a place for Israelites to worship God corporately. God promises to dwell among his people if they obey his commands. Solomon praises God for fulfilling his promise to David to have his son build a temple. Solomon recognizes the Temple is not enough to contain God but asks that God hear the prayers of his people offered there. Godly leaders set an example by confessing sins and repenting as a community during corporate worship.
1) Isaiah has a vision of God sitting on a throne in the temple after the death of King Uzziah.
2) In the vision, seraphim with six wings surround God's throne calling out "Holy, holy, holy" and the temple is filled with smoke.
3) Isaiah acknowledges his unworthiness in God's presence due to his sinfulness. A seraphim touches Isaiah's lips with a burning coal from the altar, telling him his sins are forgiven.
The document discusses biblical passages that prophesy and describe the first coming of Christ. It notes that the Old Testament predicted a messiah would come from Judah and reign over Israel and the nations. John the Baptist and others prepared for Christ's coming by proclaiming that the Kingdom of God was at hand. The document outlines how Christ fulfilled prophecies by healing the sick, claiming to be the Son of God and King, and being recognized by Simeon and Anna in the temple as the long-awaited salvation for Israel.

The document provides an overview of a Sunday school lesson on Isaiah 40. It discusses the historical context during Isaiah's time, the message of comfort God instructed Isaiah to provide to Judah facing exile, and how this message still applies today. The lesson focuses on how Isaiah conveyed that God is sovereign, will fulfill his purposes, and sustain his people. It also provides biblical references on God's comfort and plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
This document summarizes chapters 1-8 of the book of Zechariah in the Bible. It describes Zechariah receiving visions from God through an angel about rebuilding Jerusalem and the Temple after the exile. God promises to return to Jerusalem and comfort his people. Zechariah sees visions of horses patrolling the earth, a flying scroll containing God's curses, a woman in a basket representing wickedness, and chariots. God instructs Zechariah to make a crown for the high priest Joshua as a sign that the Branch will rebuild the Temple. God tells the people to stop fasting in mourning and instead be just and merciful to one another.
God promises that Judah will be protected from Syria and Israel, who plan to invade. The prophet Isaiah is sent to reassure King Ahaz of Judah, telling him not to be afraid and promising that the invading kingdoms will be destroyed within 65 years. However, when offered a sign by God, Ahaz refuses. So God himself promises a sign: a virgin will conceive and bear a son named Immanuel. Before this child is old enough, the threatened kingdoms will be destroyed by Assyria. Ahaz later submits to Assyria instead of trusting in God's promise of protection.

An ancient legend prophecy states that with the revival of the Asura God, Kalyuga would mark the end of the world as we know of today. The prophecy further says that if the decedents of the eight individuals who sealed the Asura Kalyuga, in the era of Satyuga were to reunite, then these eight would be able to defeat Kalyuga and stop the world from ending. Now, its the job of the young prince of Itrahd, Arjuna, to find all these eight based on his information. He is clueless as the ancestors of the eight decendents who used to work in his forefathers court were in Satyuga, and it has been millions of years since then. Although it doesnt go as smoothly as he had planned, he manages to stumble upon a list of distinct individuals left to him as an heirloom by his father, Kanishka. This book focuses on ten of these individuals mentioned in the list. Set on the planet Terra, where the tectonic plates are yet to drift and everyone coexists within a single continent, AshtaSaga follows the journey of a prince Arjuna. He belongs to the royal lineage, and his destiny cannot be averted. No matter how disciplined he is in offering water from a brass lota accompanied by the pradakshinas around the Peepal tree to please his purwajas. Bearing this heavy responsibility because of his bloodline and how everything unfolds is a burden the royalty cannot share since the time of Satyuga. A fast approaching end to the seemingly everlasting era of Kalyuga shackles the prince and hastens his search. Will he be able to stop the world from ending? Will the utopia become a reality, or will it melt into eternal darkness?

This presentation explores the powerful message of Isaiah 52:1-10, where God calls His people to awaken and rejoice in the promise of redemption. It reflects on how believers can experience true joy through faith, even in challenging times, by embracing God's free gift of salvation and grace. Through daily practices of prayer, thanksgiving, and sharing joy with others, we can live as testimonies of God's love and hope. The presentation emphasizes that lasting joy is found not in the circumstances of life, but in the eternal promises of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Todays message completes the final third of Peters sermon at Pentecost. We will discuss the meaning of repentance, take an important side journey into the non-negotiables of our Christian faith, talk about where and how baptism fits into our faith, and celebrate the inauguration of the Church Age as the Holy Spirit makes His grand entrance!
In Acts 2:22-36 Peter concludes his sermon on Pentecost Sunday. This is the sermon that launched the Church. We find that the Peter who once shrank back and even denied Jesus is now confident, bold and impassioned. Peter lays out three proofs of Jesus Good News, the Gospel. He does so through citing eyewitness testimony of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus and by citing prophetic texts that were fulfilled by Jesus. He shows us that the Gospel of Jesus is a proven fact!

8. 3 Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins? 5 Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways!

Why ? says the LORD of hosts. Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.
11. 10 Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 11 For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.

The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.
14. 4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And to him He said, See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes. 5 And I said, Let them put a clean turban on his head. So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the LORD stood by.

Haggai 1:12-15 The Peoples Obedience 12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet , as the LORD their God had sent him; and the people feared the presence of the LORD . 13 Then Haggai, the LORDs messenger, spoke the LORDs message to the people, saying, I am with you, says the LORD.
16. 14 So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
17. Zechariah 4:6-7 6 So he answered and said to me: This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 油 Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, 油油油油油油Says the LORD of hosts. 7 Who are you, O great mountain? 油 Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone 油油油With shouts of Grace, grace to it!
18. Zechariah 3:6-7 Then the Angel of the LORD admonished Joshua , saying, 7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: 油油油油油 油 If you will walk in My ways , 油油油油油油And if you will keep My command , 油油油油油油Then you shall also judge My house, 油油油油油油And likewise have charge of My courts; 油油油油油油 I will give you places to walk 油油油油油油Among these who stand here. 油油油油油油
19. Restoration of the Temple Resumed Ezra 5:2 So Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, helping them.
20. Opposition Inquisition Ezra 5:3-5 3 At the same time Tattenai the governor of the region beyond the River and Shethar-Boznai and their companions came to them and spoke thus to them: Who has commanded you to build this temple and finish this wall? 4 Then, accordingly, we told them the names of the men who were constructing this building. 5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, so that they could not make them cease till a report could go to Darius. Then a written answer was returned concerning this matter.
21. 6 This is a copy of the letter that Tattenai sent: 油油油The governor of the region beyond the River, and Shethar-Boznai, and his companions, the Persians who were in the region beyond the River, to Darius the king.

23. Darius I Expands Persian kingdom to India and Egypt Established postal system Reformed taxation Famous Battle of Marathon he lost to the Greeks Kind to the Jews
24. 7 (They sent a letter to him, in which was written thus) To Darius the king:油All peace. 油8 Let it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judea, to the temple of the great God, which is being built with heavy stones, and timber is being laid in the walls; and this work goes on diligently and prospers in their hands.
25. The Questions 油 9 Then we asked those elders, and spoke thus to them: Who commanded you to build this temple and to finish these walls? 10 We also asked them their names to inform you , that we might write the names of the men who were chief among them.
26. 油11 And thus they returned us an answer, saying: We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth , and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed. 12 But because our fathers provoked the God of heaven to wrath, He gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple and carried the people away to Babylon.
27. 13 However, in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, King Cyrus issued a decree to build this house of God . 14 Also, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple that was in Jerusalem and carried into the temple of Babylonthose King Cyrus took from the temple of Babylon ,
28. and they were given to one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor . 15 And he said to him, Take these articles; go, carry them to the temple site that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its former site .
29. 16 Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem ; but from that time even until now it has been under construction, and it is not finished.
30. 17 Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let a search be made in the kings treasure house , which is there in Babylon , whether it is so that a decree was issued by King Cyrus to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send us his pleasure concerning this matter.
