Facebook is a social network that connects users with people around them through an online network organized by location and interests. Users can add friends, send messages, and update their profiles. They can see their friends' profiles and updates. Twitter is a free service that allows users to post short messages of 140 characters or less called tweets. Users can follow other users to see their tweets and engage with others by replying, retweeting, or direct messaging them. Twitter provides a simple way to connect and share with others online.

So What is Facebook? Facebook is a social utility that connects you with the people around you. An online network users join that are organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. Users can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify their friends about themselves.

So why would you use Facebook? Find old classmates, friends and relatives? Invite your friends to a special event youre hosting? Post pictures of your new additions to the family?

So what is Twitter? In simplest terms, Twitter is a FREE service that allows anyone to say almost anything to anybody in 140 characters or less.
What Does Twitter Look Like? Go to www.twitter.com and signup for a FREE Account.

Twitter Terms Tweet - When you post or write your 140 characters on twitter and hit send its called a tweet or tweeting not a twit. Handle thats your twitter name for example: @ducttape Follow this is simply the act of adding someone to your list of people you are following this makes their tweets show up on your homepage.
Twitter Terms (continued) Replies this is what it is called when someone writes a tweet directly at your handle - @ducttape cool post today blah blah this is often an invite to engage with a follower. Retweet this is a tactic of republishing someone elses tweet the original tweet along with author stays in tact, but you are basically showing someones tweet to your followers many people find this a great way to add content and acknowledge good stuff from the folks they follow DM this is a message that is sent directly to another user. They must be following you for you to DM them, but this is a very useful tool for private messages and generally a good choice when you start going back and forth with someone on something your entire base of followers might not find interesting.

Complex or Simple? Apple recently wrote a case study about Twitter.In the article, Apple wrote, Twitters meteoric rise to ubiquity is proof positive that the world, in all its complexity, is eager to embrace simplicity.
So how would you use Twitter? Get help with a customer support issue? Show & Tell your friends what youre looking at on vacation? Find a great restaurant in another city that everyone recommends? Communicate with people who enjoy the same activities that you do but dont necessarily reside in the same location?
