a factor of a given number
Define factors and multiples
Rationale
Numeracy is a vital tool for education. The improvement of numeracy
programs will be some of the priorities of our school, the Surigao Education
Center (SEC) Grade School Department in making the K to 12 curriculum
relevant to produce job-ready, active and responsible citizens.
This innovative numeracy board game activity entitled Factors Board
Game will teach the learners in both engaging and educational numeracy
related activities. This numeracy activity incorporates reading challenges to
enhance numeracy factor skills of all learners.
This game is an engaging educational tool designed to enhance students'
understanding of factors, multiples, and mathematical reasoning.
Purpose
The Factors Board Game is designed with several educational purposes
in mind, primarily focusing on enhancing students' mathematical
understanding and skills.
The game helps students practice identifying factors of numbers,
reinforcing their comprehension of how factors and multiples relate to one
another. Players learn to recognize factor-numbers through gameplay.
This board game reinforces essential mathematical concepts such as
multiplication, division, and basic number theory. It provides opportunities for
students to engage with concepts like abundant, deficient, and perfect
numbers while playing
Materials
Materials Needed
1.Game Board:
A printed board featuring a grid of numbers,
typically from 1 x 1 to 10 x 10 arranged in a ten
by ten format.
2. Game Number Cards:
The printed numbers featuring various
numbers to be factored.
3. Game Board Chips:
The colored chips that will be used as pieces to
locate the factors.
R + U + L + E +
S
Rules
1.Player A will choose a number card and put the
chips on the factors of the number of the card
2.Player B will do the same as Player A did.
3.Recall Recall that the factors of a number are all of
the numbers that can be multiplied to get that
number. For example, we can find the factors of 12
by thinking about 1 x 12, 2 x 6, and 3 x 4.
4.The players take turns choosing numbers and
marking factors using the chips.
5.If a player marks a number that has no factors left
that have not been marked, that player loses a turn
and does not get the points for the number they
originally marked.
6.The game ends when there are no number cards
remaining with unmarked factors.
7.Each player adds all the chips hey put on the board.
The person with the greater total wins the game.
