IDENTITY THEFT; FREE
FROM THE GUILT AND
SHAME
Scripture References:
John 10:10; The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I
came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the
full, till it overflows].
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is
the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes
Overview
One of the most effective ways Satan can absolutely stop the plan of God for your
life is by stealing your true identity and convincing you to have a poor self-image. He
wants you insecure, feeling inferior, and walking around with low self-esteem. Why?
Because once you've accepted a distorted identity, you make choices that support
the way you feel about yourself.

WHO ARE YOU?
People equate their outward behavior with
their identity and think that what they do is
who they are.
IMAGE- Exact likeness; a tangible visible representation
IDENTITY- The condition of being oneself or itself, and not another:
Matthew 4:3-11
INTEGRITY- The quality of being honest and having strong moral
principles; moral uprightness. the state of being whole and undivided.
Genesis 1:26-28
Hebrews 4:15
Resilience involves maintaining flexibility and balance
in your life as you deal with stressful circumstances and
traumatic events. Each type of trauma counts as one.

NOUTHETIC COUNSELING OR
BIBLICAL COUNSELING
Throughout the Bible, Gods people have counseled
nouthetically. The word itself is Biblical. It comes from
the Greek noun nouthesia (verb: noutheteo). The
word, used in the New Testament primarily by the
apostle Paul, is translated admonish, correct, or
instruct.
Romans 15:14: I myself am convinced about you, my
brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled
with all knowledge, and competent to counsel one another.

EMBRACE THREE IDEAS
Active Listening and Assertiveness
COUNSELOR
Counseling is always done for the
benefit of the counselee. Their welfare
is always in view in Biblical counseling
CONCERN
Gives counsel to another from the Scriptures.
Does not confront with own ideas. LImits counsel
strictly to that which may be found in the Bible.
CONFRONTATION
Counseling is done because there is something in
another Christians life that fails to meet the biblical
requirements and that, therefore, keeps him from
honoring God.
CHANGE
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL
THERAPY CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) focuses on
changing automatic negative thoughts or reactions
and helps clients identify, challenge, and replace
these thoughts with more realistic and objective
ones.
What is it and why this works...
People dont usually belong to a fixed
mindset or a growth mindset. Most
people have beliefs that fall into both
categories
Fixed/Growth Mindset
CBT is based on the theory that the way
individuals perceive a given situation is
more closely related to their reaction, rather
than to the situation itself. Peoples
perceptions can often be distorted or
unhelpful, especially when theyre
distressed.
