CASES ? On 2016,first reported in Africa ? On may 2018,Karnataka was the first state which infected by the fall armyworm . ? Within 6 months whole India was infected by the fall ¨C armyworm 4

Life ¨Ccycle of fall armyworm ? 1. eggs ? 2.larvae ? 3.pupae ? 4.adult (moth) 6
1. Eggs ? Egg masses are cream grey or whitish in colour ? This mass often contain 100-200 spherical eggs . ? A single female moth produces an average of 1500 eggs in her lifetime. ? Duration of egg stages in only 2-3 days during warm condition . 7
2. Caterpillar ? Egg hatch into small caterpillar with 3-5 days ? Small caterpillar can also carried to other plant by wind ? Small caterpillar may appear greenish. ? Caterpillar mature within 14-22 days . 8
3. Pupae ? Catepillar develops into a reddish ¨C brown pupa in the soil ? Pupae may also found in maize cob. ? Pupae stage lasts for 8-9 days when it is warm but can be long as 20-30 days in colder areas . 9
4. Adult ? Moths are active at night espically during warm conditions. ? The male forewing has a conspicuous(visible) whitespots ? The duration of adult life is estimated by average 10 days with a range of 7- 21 days. 10
