Family Resiliency: Equipping Leaders To Help The Soldiers
Terminal Learning Objective

TLO 1: Extensively familiarize leaders with
resources to which they can connect Soldiers
    and families.

Family Resiliency: Equipping Leaders To Help The Soldiers
Assumptions
The mind, the body, and the spirit are
    inextricably connected.
Although perhaps not overtly religious, an
appreciable number of our cadre and soldiers
    are spiritual.
Most families are not well connected to
    community resources

Family Resiliency: Equipping Leaders To Help The Soldiers
Connecting
In 1997, the well know Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Larry Crabb, Ph.D. wrote a book called
Connecting. His basic premise is this:
For most of the 20th century, we have wrongly defined soul
wounds as physiological disorders and relegated their
treatment to specialist. In reality, every caring person has
the ability already within them to help.

Family Resiliency: Equipping Leaders To Help The Soldiers
The History of Psychotherapy
In 1895, Sigmund Freud stumbled on the
  idea of a talking cure.
The idea of talking caught on and soon a
  talking profession (Psychotherapy) was
  born.
Over the course of time, dozens of
  psychotherapeutic models emerged, all
  revealing beneficial results.
