American bees are dying in large numbers, causing problems for farmers who rely on bee pollination. Some beekeepers have lost over 70% of their bees. The bees are flying away from their hives and dying en masse. The cause of the mass bee deaths is unknown, and scientists are racing to find what is killing the American bees before it severely damages agriculture. Some beekeepers are importing bees from other countries, hoping they will be resistant to whatever threat is impacting the native bees. Only time will tell if this strategy can solve the mystery of the vanishing bees.
