Devon Air Ambulance
Sarah Burden, PR Manager of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said Its a real pleasure
working with the FdA Foundation Degree Filmmakers from Exeter College. The
students take the time to get to know us and ensure they fully understand the brief
and what we want from the film. When filming with us they are extremely
professional, focused and dedicated. I cannot speak more highly of the students or
their lecturers.
The benefits to the Charity are huge. Our PR budget can only go so far so receiving
up to date, great quality films from the students is a huge bonus. Working with the
students gives us the opportunity to give something back to the community.
Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust
'In 2014 we were asked by NHS management to include a film on our service user
website. We approached Exeter College as we knew their filmmaking department
had a good reputation. Dean got in touch and was so helpful and enthusiastic about
the film and guided us through the planning and script for the film and voice over.
Dean then brought his students to our Demonstration centre to make the film. All the
students conducted themselves professionally during the filming day and worked well
with the staff at the centre, explaining clearly what was required. They worked very
efficiently and creatively and were a great team with great leadership from Dean.
We were impressed with the speed of completing the final film, at their attention to
detail and their response to feedback in the final edit. The end result has been a
great success and we have had positive feedback from service users about the film
and NHS management. The film has achieved the brief and working with the FdA
Foundation Degree Filmmakers exceeded our expectations and we would
recommend them to other services.
We were especially impressed with Dean's leadership and enthusiasm as he really
inspired his students, brought out the best in them and gave them confidence in their
ability.'

Exeter Chiefs
Working with the FdA Foundation Degree Filmmakers was a great experience for all
involved. I was equally surprised at their level of technical knowledge and can do
attitude in the production of a fantastic corporate video. The professional finish is well
beyond our expectations and I wouldnt hesitate in commissioning them again or
recommending them as well!

Working with Exeter Colleges FdA Foundation Degree Filmmakers has been an
absolute pleasure and with excellent results. Both the lecturer Dean Ferris and his
students have been both professional and helpful throughout the entire project. The
project was well planned and executed and the finished films quality far exceeded
any expectations that we had. The film is currently being used on several of Devons
top visitor attraction websites and was even endorsed by Visit Devon. Giving the
students the chance to work on a real commission and working within the local
tourism industry has given them some excellent work experience and we hope to
continue working with them.

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
I found working with FdA Foundation Degree Filmmakers, very easy, they were quick
to reply to e mails, keen to learn more about our charity, were good at
communicating, Turned up on time, and were well presented, they were a credit to
the college.

Great Western Features and The Comic Strip presents The Red Top
Great Western Features are involved in production of a new Comic Strip presents
film entitled The Red Top. It stars Maxine Peake, Russell Tovey, Johnny Vegas,
Harry Enfield, James Buckley and John Sessions amongst others.
The shoot took place during September and early October 2015 in Plymouth.
Throughout the shoot Exeter College, Media and Performing Arts Department
provided around 15 students who got involved in a range of activities in front of and
behind the camera. These activities included working with costume and makeup,
setting up and striking sets with the art department, supporting the grip and camera
crew, working with props and gaffer and many being in front of camera as supporting
artists.
The feedback about student contribution was very positive from all departments.
Different department heads regularly commented on how helpful and supportive the
students were and that they had contributed significantly to the shoot. The students
demonstrated the ability to manage the different obstacles that arise during any shoot
and join in with the team atmosphere. Two students, Tanya and Emily Bray,
played a particularly significant contribution for which we are all very grateful. They
were both wonderful people and really became part of the team.
On behalf of Great Western Features and all involved, I would like to thank you so
much for you hard work and your special contribution. It was a real pleasure. I also
thank Dean Ferris for initiating, coordinating and organising so effectively and
sensitively on behalf of the college.

Great Western Features and The Comic Strip presents The Red Top
The students who joined us over several days of the production were a joy to have
around and also contributed greatly to making the film.
They did everything from the basics of looking after crew and cast with teas and
coffee, an essential part of any film production, to giving a hand in the various
departments.
As well as giving hand on help in the art department, production office, and generally
behind the scenes they were able to experience first hand the complexities of
shooting drama with a large team and the time it all takes.
And for the chosen few there was a chance to actually be in the film.
Hopefully the experience gave them all a taste of and insight into what film making is
like with a large cast, period dressing, numerous locations and a tight budget. And
shows them too that this can all be achieved anywhere - even in Devon.
Please thank them for all their help. They really did contribute to making the film.

Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership
Daniel and Thomas played an integral part in creating a well-received short film of
the final conference of the EU Citizens Rail project (www.citizensrail.org). They shot
footage of all speeches and Q&A sessions throughout the day, as well as audience
shots, workshops and vox pops. The results were comprehensive and excellent. As
lead partner in the project, the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership team were
extremely impressed by Daniel and Thomass work on the day, with several
colleagues commenting on their professionalism in the face of a packed schedule
and short set-up time. The framing of the shots, the wide variety of angles and
approaches, and the warm human interactions between participants that they
captured were first class. The quality of the footage made the editing of the film (done
in house by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership) a pleasure, with the final video
available to watch at: www.citizensrail.org/conference.
