City clinics to function over Festive Season
Primary Health Care Clinics opened on weekdays
Western Cape Government Community Health Centres (day
hospitals) open on weekdays; weekends and public holidays
City Environmental Health Department and Water and
Sanitation (Scientific Services) monitoring quality of drinking
water and recreational water

Increased monitoring of:
food premises
accommodation establishment
Public facilities
Special Events
Solid Waste Management (Cleansing)
R10.5 million budgeted for cleansing
Uninterrupted refuse removal over festive season
2,353 extra cleansing staff appointed
Focused on cleaning in business districts, scenic
routes and beaches
Social and Early Childhood Development

Partnering with Citys Displaced Peoples Unit and NGOs reducing
people living on streets
Facilitating holistic developmental and integrated approach to working
with street people
Programmes preventing migration of people to streets
Prevention programmes focused on life skills and education
Sport, Recreation and Amenities
1,500 holiday programmes running daily (5 December  15 January
Deployment of 180 temporary play leaders (EPWP) boosting staff
capacity at beaches, swimming pools and play parks
Deployment of 250 trained and accredited lifeguards between 10:00 
18:00 on beaches.

Deployment of Lifesaving Western Cape; NSRI and medic helicopter
Beach wheelchairs available at 10 beaches
