1) The document is a film treatment that outlines six scenes in Act 1. Scene I introduces Anna who is updating her blog before school. Scene II shows Mike reading a blog in his lonely home as he tries to avoid his abusive stepfather. 2) In Scene III, Joyce reads Anna's blog in the car before arguing with her mother, while Anna walks to class after the argument. Scene IV depicts Kai having an argument with his girlfriend on the stairs, then reading Anna's blog. 3) Scene V shows Anna, two girls and Mike in class, where one girl teases Anna before Mike speaks up for her. FILM TREATMENT We Are Trying ACT 1 Scene I Anna is sitting alone with her laptop, updating her blog before heading to school. Scene II Mike is sitting on a desk, reading a blog on his computer in the corner of a dark and lonely looking room as if its an everyday morning routine. Mike leaves his house as he tries his best to avoid his stepfather. He walks to school with a depressed face and a limping body, hinting at the injuries on his body. Mike reaches the front steps of his school and notices a car making its way to the parking lot. Scene III
Joyce is using her phone in the passengers seat and as she opens the blog WeAreTrying2016, before she gets a chance to take a look at the blog, her mom suddenly stops the car and raises her voice at Stella asking her to decide what she actually wants to do in life, this leads to a heated argument and Stella walks out of the car with tears rolling down her cheeks and walks straight up to her class. While walking to her class, she walks past Anna without noticing her. Anna walks towards the stairs. Scene IV Kai is on the stairs having a serious conversation with his girlfriend. Anna bumps into Kai and drops her books. Kai helps her gather her books. Anna leaves. His girlfriend tells him that they are not meant to be and walks away leaving him in despair. Kai looks at pictures of him and his girlfriend on his phone and then opens the blog WeAreTrying. Kai reads a post that he likes and looks blankly into a classroom. Scene V
Anna, two girls and Mike are sitting in the classroom doing individual tasks when suddenly one of the two girls tries to tease and Mock Anna and Anna decides to ignore it. Mike at one point, cannot stand this behavior and speaks up for her and leaves the room. Mike spots Joyce talking to her mother on the phone on the way out. Scene VI Anna reads motivational comments on her blog and pushes away dangerous material from her desk deciding to lead a healthier lifestyle.
