ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
Artificial Intelligence
? A branch of computer science which has focus to create intelligent machines
and programs.
? This generally involves borrowing characteristics from human intelligence
and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way.
? The term was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy.
Area of Specialization
? Games Playing
? Expert Systems
? Natural Language
? Artificial Neural Networks
? Fuzzy Logic
? Robotics
Examples:
Chess playing systems Robotic automation systems
In Hospitals
Advantages
? Deal with difficult, complex even dangerous tasks more efficiently.
? There is no need for sleep, they don't get ill , there is no need for breaks.
? No risk of harm as they are generally emotionless.
? Multitasking.
Limitations of Artificial Intelligence based machines
? Data specific and method specific.
? Emotions less and feeling less.
? Need greater software flexibility.
? Too complex to design.
? Will not suit the definition of a machine.
? will not be a question of ¡°man versus machine "debate.
? They will form a new species if they can do biological activities like feeling
etc. which is next to impossible i.e. Consciousness can¡¯t be programmed.
If MACHINES Gain Consciousness
Conclusion
? It is true that a machine can replace thousands of men but it is beneficial only
when it is under the control of a man.
? The innovative ideas ,new concept can¡¯t be generated by the machine, and for
that purpose man are the only one .
? And if man get replaced by machine for ever then there will be no difference
in real n artificial , which is next to impossible.
Hence we can say that :
¡°man will be man to control and govern the machine and not for replace by the
machine¡±.
¡°MAN CAN CO-EXIST WITH SMART MACHINE.¡±
