This document discusses using storybooks to promote vocabulary growth in fifth-grade students. It presents background on substantial vocabulary growth in elementary-aged children and how storybook reading supports literacy development. The purpose is to explore if teacher's use of English storybooks can improve students' reading ability. The methodology section describes using a pre-test/post-test design with ELL fifth-graders, having them participate in weekly 50-minute English reading classes incorporating storybooks for 5 months. Results will be analyzed using ANOVA/T-tests.
