Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

Watchman Nee was a Chinese preacher,
         teacher and writer...
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

When he was seventeen years old, he found himself at a place in
his life where he had to make a decision, whether he would
receive Jesus Christ as the Lord of his life or not. He had
plans for a career in the world, but he knew that if he gave his
life to Christ that he would have to do what God wanted him
                         to do with his life.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

Mr. Nee chose to give his life completely over to Christ, not only
being delivered from his sinful life, but being delivered from
                         the world as well.
In that same year, he began to write...
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

When you study the profile of various individuals in
the Bible, it is an interesting point to find that none
of them ever went to God and asked Him why He
 created them.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

Noah never asked the LORD God what his purpose
was... as far as we know from Scripture.

Moses never asked why God gave him life.

Gideon never sought God's direction for his
    existence.

Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

There are two notable men in Scripture that sought the
LORD concerning plans in their life related to their
  purpose:

King David, who sought the LORD in his decision
    making on a regular basis.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, who spent a significant time in
prayer daily during His public ministry on earth.

                The Point to Be Made

Everyone in Scripture that had God's hand on their life was
submitted to Him before He revealed His purpose and plan
                        for their life.

                   Lack of Commitment

A lot of us would like to know what God's purpose is for our
lives simply to have one more option, and may want
salvation without submitting to Christ as King. This is why
many don't know their purpose in life.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

David taught us in the Psalms and in the Chronicles to seek God,
seek His heart and seek His face. To seek God's heart is to
stop seeking our own heart's desire and put time and energy
into finding out what's on God's heart.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

Consequently, whatever is in our heart, what we want to do is
usually somehow tied into what God wants us to do. We just
need God's clarity to successfully pursue our heart's desire,
and from my experience, that involves
submitting to God's leadership
for your life.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

To seek God's face means to seek God's understanding. We have
to get an understanding with God.
My heart says of you, Seek his

           face!

                Your face, Lord, I will

           seek.

                                 Psalm 27:8 NIV

              THE GOD OF RELATIONSHIPS

That's one of the many reasons why I love Him so much. He
doesn't want to simply rule your life; He wants to have an
understanding with you, and you can't have an understanding
with someone without having a relationship with them. God
wants more than to rule; Our Heavenly Father God wants to
have fellowship and a relationship with His children!

Four Things to Do When Seeking God for Your Life's Purpose:

    Humble Yourself

    Pray

    Seek God's Face

    Turn from our Wicked Ways
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my
face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive
their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

              Humble yourself before Him

The Bible says Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will
lift you up (James 4:10 NIV). And again, But he gives us
more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the
proud but shows favor to the humble (James 4:6 NIV).'

                                    Pray
Don't just ask God for your purpose in life, listen for Him in your heart. Allow
Him to speak to your heart and minister to you. Praying is a big part of our
lives in our general purpose as mankind. It's power that fuels us because it
connects us to God is fellowship. He is our Power Source. Jesus spent a
considerable amount of time praying when He was on earth. This is how and
why His ministry was so successful. Many people try to say that Jesus was
successful because He God, but everything that He did on earth He did as a
man. The only reason that it seemed like He was God on earth when He
calmed the storm or turned water into wine, or healed the sick or raised the
dead is because He as a man in prayer invited God to influence earthly matters.
That's part of our purpose as mankind; God gave us dominion and authority
over the earth. He won't interfere on earth unless we invite Him to.

                      Seek God's face
Seek an understanding with God. Allow Him to show you where
He is coming from, and submit to it. Once you realize and
have an understanding with Him as your Heavenly Father,
you will have a clear directions of what to do and what not to
do in your life day by day.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

               Turn from our wicked ways.
Repent of those bad philosophies that you have in your heart, the
kind that move you to make bad decisions in your life, the
kind of decisions that hurt people and even yourself. Make up
in your mind that you will live your life and make decisions
that are in agreement with what you believe God would be
happy with you making. Pray for a heart to please your
  Heavenly Father.
Finding Out Your Purpose in Life

God not only wants you to submit to the purpose in
which He created you, He wants to have a
              relationship with you.
May you walk in your general purpose (Genesis 1:26), and find
your individual purposes through prayerfully seeking your
 Heavenly Father!
