Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrates that can live both on land and in water, breathing through gills and lungs as well as their skin. They come from eggs and have either smooth, wet skin or skin with glands. Amphibians display characteristics of both aquatic and terrestrial animals by being able to reproduce and spend early developmental stages in water before living on land.
