FISM is a global organization for magicians established in 1948. It aims to promote and develop the art of magic. FISM represents over 50,000 magicians across 51 countries on 6 continents. It organizes continental championships and a world championship every 3 years with competitions in 8 categories. FISM also trains judges, develops new projects, and works to ensure the future of magic continues to grow globally.

WHY FISM WAS BORN ARTICLE 3 Aims of the FISM (FISM Statute) The aims of the FISM are: to be a leading global platform of magic, committed to the enhancement, promotion and development of the Art of Magic; to unify the organisation of magic and to create a central body to whom general questions concerning magic and the interest of the magicians can be submitted; to enhance the co-operation between Member Societies, co ordinate their activities, intensify their authority and to encourage the exchange of reciprocal aid and services; to develop, promote and preserve the knowledge of the history of magic;
In Paris (France) at a meeting of the 34-year-old ASAP, Association Syndicale des Artistes Prestidigitateurs (Association of prestidigitation artists), the vice-president, Dr. Jules Dhotel, proposed to produce an international convention in Paris in October 1939, and then proceed to have the convention in a different country each year. 1937
The 1947 "Congr竪s Magique International" brought in 500 attendees from 18 countries, and 70 participants in the competition. Meetings at that convention were held to discuss the creation of a formal international organization, and that was where the FISM title was proposed FISM was founded on September 5th 1948
