Folk dancing is an important part of Serbian culture and tradition. Traditional Serbian dances, like kolo, bring communities and families together for important occasions like weddings and holidays. Kolo is a circular folk dance performed by a group holding hands or waists while dancing mostly below the waist to instrumental music like accordion or flute. Folk dancing in Serbia remains popular with hundreds of ensembles across the country, and Serbia even has a national folk dancing ensemble called "Kolo" that represents Serbian traditions internationally. Serbian folk dancing is lively and rhythmic, often winning awards at international folk festivals.
