Tropical rainforests occur near the equator and have warm, wet climates. They have several canopy layers and contain over 1,500 plant species, including trees from 313 species. Animal species include toucans, macaws, sun bears, capybaras, anacondas, and piranhas. Temperate rainforests are located along coastlines in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. They contain trees like redwoods, oaks, eucalyptus, as well as woodpeckers, ravens, bats, and black bears.
