v脱ret under tung beskydning i medierne de seneste dage.
I deres artikel mere end
noget tvivlsomme liv, hun levede.

overskrifter i medierne over hele verden. Men den store medievirak er en
overreaktion, mener G谷zim Alpion, lektor i sociologi p奪 University of
Birmingham og mange奪rig forsker i moder Teresa.
Annonce
v脱ret kendt i mange 奪r.
<http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2013-03/uom-mta022813.php>,"
undlod at give fattige l脱gehj脱lp. At hun n淡d at se de fattige lide, fik
N奪r

med overskriften "Moder Teresa: Alt andet end en helgen" fors淡ger at
projekter. Og for at v脱re 脱rlig har jeg ogs奪 v脱ret mist脱nksom over for
det arbejde, de g淡r. Men det er ikke det centrale. Moder Teresas
betydning er p奪 et symbolsk niveau. Jeg er ligeglad med, hvilke motiver
hun havde for at udf淡re sit arbejde. Om hun gjorde det for Jesu eller
for sin egen sj脱ls skyld, spiller ingen rolle for mig. Jeg er ikke selv
religi淡s.
fortjener at f奪 vist menneskelig v脱rdighed.
bogen The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice
(Mission脱rstillingen: Moder Teresa i teori og praksis). Bogen vakte stor
opsigt og forargelse, da Christoffer Hitchens blandt andet beskyldte
moder Teresa for bedrageri.

LS NEKROLOG*: Ateismens stridsmand
<http://www.kristeligt-dagblad.dk/artikel/444465:Udland--Ateismens-stridsmand>
G谷zim Alpion har selv kritiseret Christoffer Hitchens arbejde i sine
stedet for at klandre folk for deres velg淡renhedsarbejde, hvorfor s奪
at moder Teresa gentagende gange bliver m奪l for alvorlige angreb?
If淡lge Ravinder Kaur, lektor i moderne indiske studier p奪 K淡benhavns
hendes velg淡renhedsarbejde kommer fra, s奪 l脱nge hun bare kunne bruge dem
at l淡se fattigdommens problemer, men blot behandlede fattigdom og
For at forst奪 kritikken af moder Teresa mener Ravinder Kaur, at man b淡r
Studies in Religion/Sciences religieuses i l淡bet af marts.

A critical Canadian report on Mother Teresa is no more than

been under heavy fire in the media in recent days.
Three Canadian researchers have a new scientific article questioned something

Criticism of the world famous religious icon has created sensational
headlines around the world. But the big media buzz is a
overreaction, says Gezim Alpion, associate professor of sociology at the University of

"There is absolutely nothing new in the arguments they put forward. The criticism has

is the conclusion from Gezim Alpion told the paper after he
has studied the Canadian researchers pointer.
In the Canadian article is Mother Teresa criticized for her
failed to provide poor medical care. That she enjoyed seeing the poor suffer, got
its vast sums of money from unfortunate contacts, and that her
sainthood is a part of an effective media work.
Not only that criticism is well known, it is also questionable, says
Gezim Alpion. In particular, the claim that the media paved her way to
to be a holy icon for Christians, taken out of thin air.
"They forget that she was already a saint long before she died. When
assessing cult worship of Mother Teresa, one must understand it in a
Indian context. Here is an ancient Hindu tradition that in
Unlike the Catholic Church does not have to be dead to
could become saint. Already back in 1949, there are reports that
she was considered a saint in India. She was certainly good to
commit themselves in the media, but this is not those who can get credit for that
she is regarded as a saint, "he says.

The main problem with the Canadian Mother Teresa report, according Gezim
Alpion not that criticism is questionable and familiar. It is more that the
entitled "Mother Teresa: Anything other than a saint" trying to
remove her sainthood by focusing angle to what
is important in her person.
"I've also been to Kolkata and seen some of Mother Teresa sisters'
projects. And to be honest, I have also been suspicious of
the work they do. But that's not the point. Mother Teresa
importance is at a symbolic level. I do not care what the motivation
she had to do its job. Whether she did it for Jesus or
for his own soul's sake, does not matter to me. I'm not even
religious. It is quite essential is that she showed that even the poorest
Poor thing is every bit as good person as anyone and
deserve to view human dignity. It is unique, "
he says.
The Canadian report puts up a number of criticisms that the
the late journalist Christopher Hitchens also traveled. He published in 1995
book The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice
(The missionary position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice). The book aroused great
attention and outrage, as Christopher Hitchens, among other things accused
Mother Teresa of fraud.

Gezim Alpion has even criticized Christopher Hitchens work in its
books and call today Hitchens book for one of the least researched
books about Mother Teresa.
"I wish that those who are scrambling to find dirt on the mother
Teresa would take to Kolkata. Here they were to spend just one
week with the poor, as Mother Teresa sisters working among. You
Instead of blaming people for their charity work, why
not show any courage and do it yourself? And I can guarantee that the
takes courage, "he says.
But when there is nothing surprising in the criticism, why is it so,
to Mother Teresa repeatedly the target of serious attacks?
According to Ravinder Kaur, Associate Professor of Modern Indian Studies in Copenhagen
University, a large part of the criticisms is returned to a single
opinion of Mother Teresa when she gets stressed that she did not
get involved in politics.
"Mother Teresa said that she was not interested in where the money for
her charity work comes from, as long as she could just use them
on the poor. Much of the criticism of her can be hung on the
opinion. Hovedankerne against her is that she is not interested in
to solve poverty problems, but simply treated poverty and
misery in a superficial way, "she says.
To understand the criticism of Mother Teresa believe Ravinder Kaur that one should
see the continuation of the general criticism of religion
society.
"Christopher Hitchens hated religion in general and criticized the
major world religions tremendously. If you look criticism of her
given the general criticism of the role of religion, it begins to
make sense. The overall criticism also sounds that religions do not
grasp the root of the problem and trying to change the basic
structures. Instead, they offer superficial solutions to problems, "
she explains.
The Canadian report is published in the scientific journal
Studies in Religion / Sciences Religieuses during March.
There are a few funny quotes in the article:
Not only that criticism is well known, it is also questionable, says
Gezim Alpion. In particular, the claim that the media paved her way to
to be a holy icon for Christians, taken out of thin air
Allegations of sloppiness and neglegt and greed, they are therefore not taken out
of thin air? Or what?
The media has paved her way to becoming a sacred icon, the
least of serious indictment of mother Teresa. Where it is
whatever small games and rituals Catholics have fun with, so
long as they do not harm others.
And to be honest, I have also been suspicious of the work
they do. But that's not the point. Mother Teresa importance is at a
symbolic level
Yes, it is the key! If you have sick people in their care, so
have a duty to do his best to care for them, not just give
them a little random painkillers and then let them die.
I wish that those who are scrambling to find dirt on the mother

not show any courage and do it yourself? And I can guarantee that the
requires courage,
I do not think there is anyone who has accused mother Teresa for lacking
v. They accuse her of neglegt, corruption, sloppiness and more.
Ravinder Kaur puts it as accurate as it can be done:
The overall criticism also sounds that religions do not catch on
the root of the problem and trying to change the basic structures. You
