Vi har i gruppen været ude og observere ved Grøn Tara meditation i Centeret for
Visdom og Medfølelse.

Vi deltog i Grøn Tara Praksis, tirsdag d. 25. oktober 2011, kl. 18:00 – 18.30. Vi
havde ingen aftale med medlemmerne i centeret, vi mødte bare op og havde
set på centerets hjemmeside (www.fpmt.dk) at der blev udført Grøn Tara
Praksis.

Placering:
Selve Centeret for Visdom og Medfølelse er placeret i indre Københavns
travle centrum, hvor storbyens puls er på sit højeste. Udefra ligner det en
ganske almindelig lejlighed, der er en masse små butikker og restauranter i
stueetagen, selve bygningen er placeret i en gågade, hvor rigtig mange
mennesker hver dag traver forbi.
Det er meget svært at finde centeret, da der næsten ingen skilte eller
henvisninger er. Vi brugte lang tid på at finde ud af hvor vi egentlig skulle gå
hen, vi var bl.a. nødt til at spørge om vej. Der er ikke fri adgang til centeret,
man skal ringe på en klokke, og så bliver døren til den smalle og stejle trappe
der fører op til centeret på 4. sal låst op.
Man kommer ind i en smal entre, hvor der er plads til at hænge sin jakke og
stille sine sko, rummet bærer præg af, at centeret ikke er vant til at få mange
besøgende på en gang – der var ikke meget plads.. Derudover er der en masse
små brochurer og vi blev mødt af en sødelig duft af røgelse.
Selve rummet hvor ritualet bliver udført var en del større. Her var der
dæmpet belysning, mange stearinlys placeret rundt omkring i rummet,
’guldbelagte’ statuer stod rundt omkring i vinduerne, og på det alter der var
centrum for rummet. På selve alteret stod der en stor statue af Buddha, og

3. ved hans side stod statuen af Tara (den kvindelige bodhisattva – stræber
efter at opnår fuldkommen erkendelse), som i sin form var meget mindre en
den store Buddha. Tara som statue og på religiøse billederhar en ’åben fod’,
da hun skulle være klar til at springe til, hvis der er brug for hende, det bliver
et slags tegne på hendes åbenhed.I et hjørne af rummet var der et forhæng, så
deltagerne havde mulighed for, at skifte til mere komfortabelt og behageligt
tøj. Dette er et tegn på den komfort, der er central for flere
meditationsritualer i centeret – det handler om at have fysisk velbehag under
ritualerne.
I det ene hjørne af rummet var der et par reoler med en masse buddhistiske
litteratur. Bæger om munke-beretninger, om spiritualitet og om religiøse
lederes tanker. Dette lille ’bibliotek’ var placeret i samme rum som selve
ritualet foretages i.
I et andet hjørne var der opstillet et bord med kaffe og the. Vi blev med det
sammen tilbudt at tage en kop, hvilket er et tegn på den store
imødekommenhed, venlighed og interesse vi blev mødt med.
Rundtomkring på gulvet var der lagt otterøde meditationsmåtter frem
(umiddelbart er det ikke mange, centeret regner ikke med den store
deltagelse til netop Grøn Tara Praksis),og en stor pude man kunne sidde på,
vi fik at vide at vi endelig bare skulle tage flere puder, hvis vi ikke sad
behageligt. Meditationsmåtterne var opstillet således at vi var placeret
overfor hinanden på rækker, med siden mod alteret. På en lille pude lå et
stykke papir med forskellige bønner og recitationer på, en slags beskrivelse
af meditationens struktur.
Vi havde ikke mulighed for, at se hele centeret, ved siden af alteret var der en
dør der førte ud til et slags baglokale. Da meditationen skulle til at starte, og
vi alle havde taget plads, kom der en mand frem fra baglokalet, han skulle
lede ritualet og føre os igennem meditationen.

4. Da vi ankom til centeret, blev vi mødt af en kvinde af anden etnisk bagrund
end dansk, som var i midten af 30’erne. Hun inviterede os ind det lokale hvor
de udøver deres ritualer, hun snakkede nervøst dansk, og da vi fik
præsenteret os som universitets studerende, spurgte hun om lov til at slå
over i engelsk. Hun var klædt i afslappet tøj, løst sidende og i neutrale farver.
De andre der var tilstede i lokalet, var ikke på samme måde
imødekommende, de fandt sig tilrette på meditationsmåtterne, med en kop
the og der forgik stille tale, meget hurtigt blev der helt stille og der opstod en
forventning om at noget skulle til at ske. Folk satte sig ordenligt til rette det
var det eneste der kom lyde fra inden ritualet gik i gang. Udover kvinden der
tog imod os, var der to andre kvinder tilstede, de var begge mellem 50 og 60
år. Den ene af kvinderne, var både inden og efter ritualet meget tavse og
virkede ikke interesseret i vores tilstedeværelse, hun virkede en smule utryg
eller irriteret over vores tilstedeværelse, måske også pga. at det eneste man
kunne høre under meditationen udover det religiøse overhoved var os, som
sad uroligt, pga. den uvante siddestilling. Den anden af de to kvinder var dog
meget interesseret i os, hun gav udtryk for et stort engagement for ritualet.
Disse to kvinder var danske og var begge iført løst og afslappet tøj. Efter
ritualet fik vi da også at vide at denim ikke er det bedste at meditere i, da det
lukker for blodomløbet,vi havde alle tre denim bukser på. Så de forklarede
deres egen beklædning med, at det var praktisk under ritualet. Vi ved derfor
ikke om det er deres daglige tøjstil. Der var kun to mænd tilstede og den en af
dem var det religiøse overhoved. Den deltagene mand, var en ret ung mand
som vi vil skyde til at være i 20’erne, han var dansker og i samme
afslappende tøj som kvinderne. Det religiøse overhoved kom ind da alle sad
tilrette. Han var skaldet og barfodet og som de andre var han klædt i
afslappet tøj, han havde jogging bukser på og en langærmet afslappet trøje.
Han første deltagerne igennem ritualet og gik da ritualet var færdig uden at
sige farvel ud i et baglokale. Som beskrevet tidligere at vi ikke havde adgang
til.

5. Det gik op for os at ritualet, grøn tara praksis, havde en meget fast form. Det
religiøse center havde udarbejde en struktur for ritualet; En start, en midte
og en afslutning. For et ritual er dette ikke ualmindeligt. I dette tilfælde
havde de formuleret det ned på skrift, med et program der lå foran
deltagerne – lidt ligesom når folkekirken uddeler programmer før
initiationsritualer som dåbsritualet, konfirmation og bryllup, hvor et
program for ritualet struktur uddeles ved indtrædelsen i det religiøse rum.
Anderledes var det dog hos Centeret for Visdom og Medfølelse. På papiret
stod de rituelle recitations tekster skrevet på sanskrit, hvilket også forklarer
centerets medlemmers ophøjelse og helliggørelse af det printede A4 ark.
Foran vores røde måtter, der var ritualets sidepladser, lå der en pude i en
identisk rød farve. Da vi spurgte hvorfor teksten blev placeret på puden, var
svaret, at det var pga. en hyldest og ophøjelse af den helligetekst der også var
en rituelt program guide. Vi bemærkede der lå ca. 40 eksemplar af
programmet i en plastik mappe i vindueskarmen, hvilket på mange måder
tyder på, at teksten kun bliver hellig i dets funktion i ritualet, og ikke udenfor
en rituel sammenhæng.
I centerets lokaler var der en stemning, man nærmest kan kalde for en dansk
folkekirkelig stemning, lang mere end en jødisk snakke sfære. Der var meget
stille, folk talte lavt til hinanden, og vi havde en klar fornemmelse af, at man
var i en rolig ”spirituel sfære” der skulle respekteres.
Ud fra baglokalet kommer den religiøse ekspert ind, munken, og her blev der
helt stille. Den religiøse ekspert folder hænderne (bedende), bukker for
gudinden, og derefter for et billede af den nulevende Dalai Lama, og sætter
sig så i lotusstilling. Efterfølgende hersker der total stilhed, kun afbrudt af
den københavnske trafiklarm.
Selve ritualet starter i totalt stilhed. Munken indleder med nogle fysiske og
mentale øvelser, hvor man skal forstille sig ens krops eksistens i lokalet.
Derefter ”skal vi dybere ind i os selv” gennem en række åndedrags øvelser,
hvor man skal se ind i kroppen. Med vores smerte i ben og ryg, efter at sidde i
enpseudo lotusstilling i længere tid, bliver det klart for os, at vi ikke ligesom

6. føler den samme ”dybde” i ritualet. Munken fortsætter ritualet ved, at snakke
om sindsbevidsthed, hvad der så nærmere menes med det? Efterfølgende
guider den religiøse ekspert som en imod et syn. Et healende syn af den
grønne Tara. Vi skulle se vores følelser og tænker dem som sorte
punker/områder inde i os selv, hvor vi skulle lade den grønne Tara
gennemlyse det mørke i os, og bearbejde det væk – sagt på en anden anden
måde. Deltagerne skulle mærke og se det onde i sig selv og alt det onde man
havde gjort, samt alt det onde man havde lyst til at gøre (ens mørke sider).
Derefter skulle deltagerne visualisere hvordan den grønne Tara kom ind og
spredte lys.
Det handler altså om, at erkende det mørke og dystre, og samtidig erkende
det lyse og gode. I denne situation kommer de ”nye” new age tanker virkelig
til kraft, særligt idet Tara billedeliggøres som en skytsengel. Ideen med en
skytsengel funktion i buddhistisk religion, der næsten opererer med
”psykoterapeutiske kræfter”, der kan bearbejde og guide selvet og være et
healende led i personlig udvikling, er meget karakteristisk for new age
religioner. Tanken om individet ikke er fuldendt og skal udvikles, er ofte et
fokus der lægges i nyere spirituelle trosretninger .
Ser man bort fra et new age spirituelt fokus på ritualet, dukker der også en
anden oplagt sammenligning op, syndsforladelse. Hun kan gennem en aktiv
handling ”frelse” en fra det onde der er eksistere i individet, og det individet
har gjort.
Efter dybere refleksioner over hendes funktion, som en guddom i et
moderne dansk samfund, er vores bud på, hvorfor centeret netop går så
meget op i den buddhistiske gudefigur følgende; Hun appellere til den
vestlige verdens kultur, idet individet skal udvikle sig og blive bedre, samme
funktion som i et selvudviklings kursus (dog en grov sammenligning). Men
også tanken om at individet kan smide sine hverdags problemer ”over til
hende”, og få dem bearbejdet og healet væk. Netop det at hun kan løse
hverdagsproblemer som kæreste sorger, var et centralt omdrejningspunk i
centerets forsøg på, at appellere ritualet funktion til os. Centreres leder (ikke

7. den religiøse ekspert) hev i pigerne – ikke den mandlige deltager Lauge – og
fortalte hvordan man skulle bruge den grønne Tara. F.eks. i en tid med
kæreste sorger skulle man bruge den grønne Tara, i stedet for at kanalisere
ens sørgmodighed ned i shopping og is spisning (deres formulering). Hun er
altså en gud der har, eller tilegnes, en funktion som moderne
psykoterapeutisk skytsengel/coach, der kan hjælpe individet med sine
problemer i hverdagen, og er et godt alternativ til is spisning shopping i
triste tider for unge piger.
Ritualet består ydermere af recitation af en tekst på sanskrit, der reciteres på
original sprog. Recitationen står på i ca. 8min. og det formodes at være en af
de faste elementer i den grønne Tara praksis, idet alle kunne recitationen til
perfektion. Recitationen stoppes af den religiøse ekspert ved, at han sætter
tempoet ned og til sidst antyder en afslutning på recitationen. dette
efterfølges af total stilhed. Den religiøse ekspert fortæller os og centerets
medlemmer, at vi skal mærke rummet bevægede sig, som om vi ikke var
fysisk tilstede. Dog skulle vi være tilstede i rummet som hvis selve Dalai Lama
var i lokalet, hvad der må tænkes at et udtryk for høj spirituel
repræsentation. Munken fortsætter igen med snakke om, at deltagerne skulle
se det onde i sig selv, alt det onde man havde gjort, og alt det onde man havde
lyst til at gøre (igen ens mørke sider). Dette efterfulgt af endnu en
visualisering af den grønne Tara, der komme ind og spredte lys og hjælper
en af med disse problemer og tanker. Efter hans udlægning af den grønne
Taras funktioner, herskede der igen stilhed, og munken forlod lokalet. Efter
han forlod lokalt, gik der cirka et par minutter igen før folk stille talte
sammen. Tilhængerne at centeret begyndte at klargøre lokalet til det næste
ritual der skulle forgå i centeret – mindfulness meditation. Før folk var
ankommet til centeret, blev der gjort klar til et lang større antal deltagere,
hvilket viste sig at være en god ide. Lagt flere kom til mindfulness meditation,
dette kan skyldes to ting; Enten det at meditation er mere populært i vores
postmoderne-samfund, eller tidspunktet for grøn Tara praksis. Grøn Tara
prkasis er fra 18:-18:30 midt i den danske ”aftensmads tid”, mens
meditationen er fra kl 19.

8. En forklaring på dette spørgsmål bør undersøges enten ved en række
kvalitative interviews af deltagerne, eller et kvantitativt spørgeskema rettet
mod centerets tilhænger, før der kan drages nogle konklusioner. Til
deltagelsen i mindfulness meditation forslås der en donation på 50kr., og den
grønne Tara praksis var ”gratis”. Da vi ikke havde forstået at vores spirituelle
ydelser var gratis, og centerets leder stod og opkrævede penge af de folk der
kom for meditation, kunne vi med ikke andet en finde penge frem – men
glæde og god ro i kroppen skal det siges. Men da vi troede vi skulle betale
50kr. hver og vi langt fra havde så mange kontanter hver, undskylde vi for vi
ikke havde nok med, og her opstod der en spændende situation. Lederen
fortalte os det kun var meditationen der kostede 50kr. , men det andet var
frivilligt, og hvis man var fattig kunne man naturligvis altid komme uden at
betale en krone. Det hørte en af det andre betalende for meditations ”holdet”,
og en længere snak opstod om økonomien og religiøse ydelser. For hvis man
ikke ”skulle” betale hvorfor var det så hun opkrævede 50kr. ved indgang –
det skal siges at man ville føle sig som et dårligt menneske hvis ikke man
betalte, da hun var meget opkrævende med messingskålen til penge.
Men ”problematikken” der opstod om spørgsmålet ved økonomiske ydelse
for religiøs ydelse, tror vi skyldes vores religiøse indretning i Danmark.
Danskere har folkekirken de kan besøge gratis, eller det vil sige vi tænker
ikke kirkeskatten ind i vores hverdags forestilling om betaling for religiøs
ydelse. I det øjeblik folk skal levere kontanter for ydelser, stilles der
spørgsmålstegn ved det rigtig og ”etiske” ved betalingen for religiøsitet. Men
samtalen skal ses i det perspektiv, at det går centerets overlevelse, hvilket
også var det svar den spørgende dame fik, og det blev accepteret.
Alt i alt er Centeret for visdom og medfølelse et spændende sted, med mange
forskellige tanker og spirituelle handlinger der er hver at give et besøg.
