Alan Turing arguably wrote the first paper on formal methods 75 years ago. Since then, there have been claims and counterclaims about formal methods. Tool development has been slow but aided by Moores Law with the increasing power of computers. Although formal methods are not widespread in practical usage at a heavyweight level, their influence as crept into software engineering practice to the extent that they are no longer necessarily called formal methods in their use. In addition, in areas where safety and security are important, with the increasing use of computers in such applications, formal methods are a viable way to improve the reliability of such software-based systems. - 3. What is CPS? Child protective Services (CPS) is design to ensure safety, permanent, and nurturing families to children. Child protective Services is design to help prevent harm to children such as physical or mental injury, sexual abuse, or neglect and many more. This program provide support for family and strive to reduce the risk of children, help with parenting skills, and most important help strengthen social support network for families.
- 4. Agency Practice Immediate/Emergency Response (IR/ER) When a referral is received the staff in the social service obtains the fact from the person making the referral to determine if the referral is alleges to abuse, neglect or exploitation. If the report being viewed is indicated as a need for child protection. If a case is accepted social work must intervene. They will provide family preservation and support services for the families that need it. Identify the problems and gather fact to solve the problem. Plan and set goals and provide resources. The cases will also need to be document. And, lastly terminate the case or transfer it to another program. Family Maintance (FM) An approximately 12 months of service is provided for the children who remain safely in the home while the family receives services, then foster placement is arranged in most family like home. It's also located close to parent's home up to the interest of the child to choose what is best for them. Family Reunification (FR) Up to 18 months of services are provided to children and family when a child is removed from the home and family is making progress toward unification. Permanent Placement (PP) When a child cannot be returned to a safe home after service have been delivered. the child must be provided with family like living arrangement as soon as possible.
- 5. Social Justice issue in CPS Having social justice as a social work is an strong value. According to this field social justice is view as everyone having equal rights, social rights, having what their greatest need can be. An example, a social workers make sure his/her clients received access to food stamp and health care. Same goes to an elderly the social worker help them to have the financial services they need. And, ensure that they are receiving the health and benefit they need.
- 6. At Risk Population S ervices are available to children and their families when children are at risk of, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or parental absence. California CPS defines theses given facts as an at-risk child: When a child is physically injured by other than accidental means When a child is subjected to willful cruelty or unjustifiable punishment When a child is abused or exploited sexually When a child is neglected by a parent or caretaker who fails to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, medical care or supervision
- 7. CPS pratices Social work practice consists of values, principles, and techniques. Helping clients with resources like counseling and therapy to solve their own issues and problem. Helping a community or groups provide or improve social and health services. Being able to understand the practice of social work requires knowledge of human development and behavior according to social and economic, and cultural values. Having these values and understanding your clients can make a difference.
