The MATATAG curriculum is the revised basic education curriculum for kindergarten to grade 10 in the Philippines launched by DepEd in 2023. It aims to reduce the number of learning areas and competencies from over 11,000 to 3,600 to decongest the curriculum and focus on foundational skills. The MATATAG curriculum will be implemented in phases from 2024 to 2028, starting with kindergarten and grades 1, 4, and 7 in the 2024-2025 school year. It emphasizes developing students' intellectual and emotional skills to prepare them for a changing world.

3. Salient Points
One of the "issues"
discovered in the
existing K to 10
curriculum was that
it was "overloaded"
with too many
lessons or subjects.

necessary revisions
to the curriculum
are needed avert
further learning
losses,

the revised

Kindergarten to
Grade 10 called the

numeracy, and
socio-emotional
skills among
younger learners,
the revised K to 10
curriculum cuts
down the number
of subjects in
Grades 1 and 2

DepEd will
implement, in
