The document describes two games - Futures in 1 Hour (F1H) and Futures Out Loud (FOL) - that are used to make futures thinking more accessible. F1H is a one hour workbook to teach futures concepts like scenarios and implications. FOL is a card game where participants generate and discuss alternative futures. Both games aim to quickly engage users, teach futures methods, and spark new ideas. The document provides examples of how the games are structured and can be applied, as well as discussing how gaming approaches can democratize futures work.

5. Futures & Participation
5
QUESTIONS TO ASK
Whose future? Who participates? How do they participate? How is it expressed/represented? How is it experienced?
Participation is active purposeful engagement with an object
representing a future in order to frame a unique perspective
on its impact, tensions, and/or implications

26
What is FOL?
FOL is a fun and collaborative game that helps group generate, question and play with alternatives.
FOL practices making novel connections and propels groups in new directions by voicing futures.
