The document summarizes the set design for a 1950s Americana diner that will be used in a play set in a box theatre. Key elements of the set include a large window on the back wall to show the outside weather, worn checkered floor tiles, brown bar stools and tables, vintage advertisements and a jukebox to set the 1950s time period. Two side walls will be eliminated to fit the black box stage, and props like the bar, refrigerator and cabinets will be rearranged along the back window wall.

To allow the audience to feel the emotions of
each character with a greater magnitude
3.
There will be one large

of the set to display the

The view of the weather

the conflicts inside the

resolution
4. 50s Americana Diner.
Simple yet comfortable
Like the image below but with more muted
colors.
The walkway in between the bar
and tables will be wider.
5.
The tiles will be checkered light brown with
yellow. The floor will be visibly worn, midly
shiny, with scuff marks from years of use.
The seat covers will be a light brown/brown
color
The bar will have newspapers, sugar packets,
and other typical diner items
6.
On the walls there will be coca-cola signs as
well as other classic 50s propaganda.
There will be one old jukebox near one corner
to re-affirm the time period for the audience.
7. The set suggested by the
playwright will be used.
The two side walls will
be eliminated because
this will work better with
in the black box stage .
The all of the props
outlined in the play will
also be placed in their
corresponding place.
Note: Because the two walls will be eliminated the bar, refrigirator, cabinets
and sink will be moved to be in front of the large window along the back wall.
Therefore the benches and magazines will be moved to the left hand side.
