1) Natural gas is used across Finland, with over 3,200 km of transmission pipelines and 1,900 km of distribution networks. There are currently around 34,000 natural gas consumers in Finland.
2) In 2013, total natural gas consumption in Finland was around 3,300 million cubic meters. The majority was used by manufacturing (30%), energy and power companies (58%), and local distribution (10%).
3) Biogas production has also increased in Finland in recent decades, with over 80 biogas plants currently operating and total biogas production reaching over 130 million cubic meters in 2012. The majority of biogas comes from landfill plants and municipal wastewater treatment.
