Fast and comprehensive technical
support for the whole power plant
The Plant Support Center (PSC) provides direct access to a global network of technical
specialists to support troubleshooting, to analyse equipment trends or to provide
support during assessment and recommissioning.
The PSC offers online support to any place in the world out of the global plant
operational support network, which is located in Baden (CH), Richmond (US) and
Kuala Lumpur (MY).
Besides their own experience as well as the global technical know-how available
within Alstom, our plant operation specialists rely on comprehensive and proprietary
knowledge management tools.
The result: Fast 24/7 support, early warnings detecting issues before they impact
operation, automated trends available over the Internet.
Service level modules
In order to give you the support you require, a modular service level approach has
been chosen. The Plant Support CenterTM
portfolio offers you different basic as well as
specialised service modules. Those can be provided individually or combined. Our main
modules are:
24/7 operation support service
In the Plant Support CenterTM
, experienced Service Engineers are available around-the-
clock to provide fast and competent operational support for keeping your plant running
or get it back online as fast as possible (1st
level support).
If required, the issues are addressed to a specialist with specific engineering know-how
in a 2nd
level support.
Additionally, the PSC staff will provide recommendations for planned maintenance
and longer-term plant improvements. With this information you are able to optimise
scheduling of downtime, labour and materials.

Plant Support CenterTM
Monitoring & diagnostics services
The Plant Support CenterTM
also provides remote monitoring and diagnostic services to
assist your decision-making processes in order to operate your plants more efficiently
and cost effectively. Specialised engineers monitor incoming plant data with the help
of advanced Alstom-proprietary diagnostic programs. These programs are based on
Alstoms unique Original Equipment Manufacturer know-how and detect automati-
cally emerging trends of equipment problems or sub-optimal performance. In case such
deviations are detected, PSC personnel are notified for an assessment immediately.
Afterwards the plant operator is informed of the PSC recommendation.
Additionally, health status reports give you indications where to improve plant
availability and reliability while reducing maintenance costs.
With this pro-active monitoring service, the PSC supports you in reducing operational
risks, optimising plant performance and helps you therefore to gain an edge over your
competition.
Power train vibration remote assessments
The PSC offers additional services for remote assessment of the shaft vibration behav-
iour and integrity of your power train. Specialists use the standard instrumentation of
the plant bearing protection system and/or your specific vibration monitoring equip-
ment to monitor the gas turbine, steam turbine, generators, and self-synchronising
clutch at all critical operation modes of the plant.
Operational for all plants equipped with
Alstom gas turbines
Building on Alstom technology
The services provided by the PSC rely on data collected by the Alstom monitoring and
diagnostic (M&D) system. Highspeed data is collected on the plant by the fast control-
ler data recorder (DEPP). The PSC can remotely access the data through a secure vir-
tual private network connection, to support troubleshooting requests. In case of M&D
services, a data extract file is sent once a day to the PSC, where diagnostic programs
identify trends and analyse the data for deviations of the expected condition.
This data transfer can be done from the DEPP or from a plant platform. In the latter
case, it becomes possible to extend the plant installation with specialised modules that
monitor specific plant components.
The Plant Support CenterTM
is operational for all power plants equipped with Alstom
gas turbines. However, a full 24/7 coverage is currently provided for GT24, GT26,
GT13E2 and GT11N2 based power plants only.
At present more than 60 power plants are connected to the PSC and benefit from our
remote support services.
