General Meeting Minutes

Icebreaker
o Two truths and a lie
SGA Representative Thomas Jury
o Possible Karaoke Night at Buffalo Wild Wings/The Cabin
 Time and date to be announced
 Sometime in September/October
Fundraising
o Pop can drive  September 24th @ 7:00 p.m.
 Meeting in Pearce 225 before hand and carpooling at 7:00 p.m.
 Minimum amount per pop can slip is $5.00, slips can be combined to
equal $5.00
 Cans must be redeemed at a local store; Meijer, Walmart, Aldi, etc.
 Slips can be brought in at any time during the semester
 We plan on going to apartment complexes: Deerfield/Lexington,
Jamestown, etc.
o T-Shirts will be available soon!
o A Tropical Smoothie Caf辿 fundraiser in the future (October)
 Time and date TBA
Community Service
o Adopt-A-Highway clean-up
 Sunday September 22
 Meet at 11 a.m. outside of Park Library to carpool
o Animal Shelter
 Friday September 27th
 12-2 p.m. or 2-4 p.m. -> we will be signing up for one time slot
Socials
o Papas Pumpkin Patch/Pumpkin Carving
 Hayride, cider, donuts, yum
 Haunted house/Corn maze
 Dates and times TBA (most likely on a weekend)
o Adopt  A  Highway counts as a social point!
o ***looking for an assistant/small committee for social events, contact Megan

o First Generation Scholar Award
 NSCS will award (5) $1,000 scholarships to assist First Generation college
students in their journey to a degree.
o Merit Award
 Each year NSCS awards $1,000 scholarships to thirty outstanding and
deserving new members across the country to help defray the cost of
tuition expenses.
o The Amy Shopkorn Student Affairs Award
 Amy Shopkorn is a former NSCS employee. Two $1,000 awards are
granted to students who have created a positive impact on their campus
