Digital Futures in Teacher Education
Sheffield Hallam University

Dear parent/carer,

We are writing to let you know about a research project that is planned to
take place at the school next week as part of the XXXXX event. The research
project is called "Digital Futures in Teacher Education" and its aim is to
develop online resources for teachers which will help them improve the digital
literacy skills of pupils.

On 18th June 2012, the researchers from Sheffield Hallam University would like
to come into the school and talk to the children participating in the XXXXX
event. We would like to record these conversations and we would also like to
take photographs and videos of children during the event. All recordings will
be stored in a safe space. The researchers will want to use selected recordings
and videos for the case studies which are developed on the basis of our work
with the schools in the "Digital Futures in Teacher Education" project. It is also
likely that the researchers will want to use excerpts from the recordings and
videos when they share this work with other academics and teachers for
instance at conferences and through publications. Any other recordings will be
deleted once all the data has been analysed.

I am therefore writing to you to ask if you are happy for your child to be
involved.
If you are happy for your child to participate, please complete the form
overleaf and return to [name of teacher].

If you have any questions about the project please contact XXXX or email
