Work Experience
Communications Systems Operator within the Corps of Royal Signals – March 2012 - July
2017
I enlisted into the British Army in March 2012, I’ve spent the last four years gaining a vast
amount knowledge and experience on various communication systems and building on my
skills experience to put myself in the position of managing others. My trade knowledge
consists of radio, satellite and data systems this also includes work on building and repairing
systems.
Responsibilities:
 Daily maintenance of a communications detachment and management of a
crew consisting of three people.
 Providing voice and data communications, also building and operating a local
and wide area network for a Divisional Headquarters.
 Repairs and fault finding on various types of communication and computer
based systems.
 Working daily with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint to control
transportation movements within an operational headquarters and to provide
information for meetings and briefs.
 Accounting and being responsible for the whereabouts of valuable items.
Customer Service Assistant at Dunelm Mills – August 2011- March 2012
Dunelm mill employed me shortly after I left high school as a Till Assistant after becoming
confident at that and having a passion for helping customers my manager at the time
decided to move me on to the customer service desk where I could gain more knowledge and
adopt more skills within helping the store run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
 Attending to and sorting customer complaints or issues.
 Processing ‘click & collect’ orders and releasing them to customers.
 Presentation and cleanliness of the store.
 Helping customers to find the right products within stores or placing orders if we
didn’t have a particular product in store at the time.
Education & Qualifications
Bulford CampTraining Wing – July 2013 – November 2015
 BTEC level 2 in Telecommunications & IT Systems: I gained this qualification with a mixture
of work assessment’s and coursework. The work assessments would consist of my tutor visiting
me at my place of work and we would go through health & safety procedures, security of
information procedures and daily tasks I carried out for my job. The coursework consisted of
many elements such as me researching and explaining various data and security acts,
explaining why we did things a certain way within my line of work and producing various
information on different procedures.
Worcester Sixth Form College – September 2009 – June 2011
 BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Society, Health & Development: Throughout the duration of my
time on this course it consisted of me learning about the health, criminal, elderly care and
early year’s sectors. I had to write various essays which looked into the development of
children, health & nutrition and on the criminal justice process. Alongside this I had to carry
out various work placements to gain the experience needed for this qualification, each work
placement was 5- 10 days long. I thoroughly enjoyed these placements and the experiences I
gained. The work placements consisted of a primary school, elderly day centre, disabled adults
day care centre and early year’s nursery.

Skills
Leadership:As a team leader I was able to show my skills various times in many situations,
such as planning to move out to various locations which consisted of me organising vehicle
and crewman readiness and supplies. I demonstrated strong leadership skills in my role as
detachment commander, by motivating and leading my team to an outstanding performance
and proving to be the only detachment to provide communication links for a trade exercise.
Personal effectiveness: In my previous job roles I demonstrated these skills by being to work
by myself and also as a key team member. I have a good understanding for managing my time
effectively; prioritising my work and staying organised to meet deadlines. In addition to this I
am able to keep calm and motivated when I have to work under pressure and in stressful
situations, as I have a strong motivation to succeed in all aspects. Additionally I have always
strived to develop myself and level of experience whether this was a paper round whilst I was
at school or by joining the army at the age of sixteen.
Innovation and problem solving: These two skills very key in my last two job roles whether
it was resolving a customer query or complaint, ensuring the best outcome for the customer.
On the other hand having to fault find on the communications systems and having to adapt
and overcome to any situation that arose.
Communication, Presentation and Networking: Throughout both of my previous job roles
I was able to develop my verbal communication skills and self confidence in speaking to
various people. During my time in the Army and college course I was assessed on my
presentation skills and playing a key role in group discussions or debates on a number of
occasions. Plus I received valuable feedback to confirm I was a confident presenter and I am
always grateful of constructive criticism.
Personal Interests
I have many interests and hobbies such photography, cooking, gardening, personal fitness, arts
& crafts. Plus I still have a keen passion to keep learning and broadening my knowledge. Also
enjoying the smaller and more meaningful things such as socialising and spending quality
time with my family and friends.
