An optoelectronic sensor produces an electrical signal proportional to incident light. Color sensors determine color by emitting light and analyzing reflected light. Integrated color sensors in blood glucose meters use the light-reflectance method, where a test strip undergoes a color change or light properties change based on blood glucose content. A proposed colorimeter would use color measurement instead of absorbance to eliminate nonlinearity issues above 400mg/dl glucose concentration. An RGB color sensor converts light to proportional voltage outputs for each color channel, connected to a microcontroller and computer for color measurement analysis and display.
2. Optoelectronic Sensor
An optoelectronic sensor is a device that produces an
electrical signal proportional to the amount of light
incident on its active area.
Integrated Color Sensor
A color sensor has the ability to determine
different colors. They will utilize a means of emitting
light and then look at the reflected light to determine
an object's color.
3. Medical Science...!!!
Integrated Color Sensors in Blood Glucose Meters
light-reflectance method, the blood sample reacts with a
substance on a test strip so either there's a color change based
on blood glucose content or it will exhibit certain properties
when illuminated by a specific wavelength of light.

absorbance.
Filter is removed & the
monochromatic source is
eliminated.
5. RGB color sensor - Agilent HDJD-S722
Agilent's color sensor converts
colored light to proportional RGB

The voltage output of each
channel increases linearly with
increasing light intensity.
RGB voltage output is connected

6. Response curve of Reagent
Show the nonlinearity in the response of reagent that is used for
the measurement of Glucose.
Non-linearity prevails in both Absorbance & Saturation when the
Glucose concentration is above 400mg/dl.

7. The Future of Sensor in Colorimeter
Improve the software so that many of the processes can be
done automatically.
Interfacing provided in the Modified colorimeter has not been
fully utilized in the present software.
New software developed to work with the RGB data coming
straight from the modified colorimeter to the computer.
Further work can be carried out in the Clinical laboratories
with real blood samples collected from the Diabetic patients.
Colorimeter can be compared with that of the result obtained
from the existing colorimeter and Glucometer.
