1. God In a Killing Mood
Gen 18:20-33
20) And the LORD said, Because the cry of
Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because
their sin is very grievous;
21) I will go down now, and see whether they
have done altogether according to the cry of it,
which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
22) And the men turned their faces from thence,
and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood
yet before the LORD.
2. 23) And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt
thou also destroy the righteous with the
wicked?
24) Peradventure there be fifty righteous within
the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the
place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25) That be far from thee to do after this
manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked:
and that the righteous should be as the wicked,
that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all
the earth do right?
26) And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty
righteous within the city, then I will spare all
the place for their sakes.
27) And Abraham answered and said, Behold
now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the
Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
28) Peradventure there shall lack five of the
fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for
lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty
and five, I will not destroy it.
3. 29) And he spake unto him yet again, and said,
Peradventure there shall be forty found there.
And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.
30) And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord
be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there
shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will
not do it, if I find thirty there.
31) And he said, Behold now, I have taken
upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure
there shall be twenty found there. And he said,
I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.
32) And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry,
and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure
ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not
destroy it for ten's sake.
33) And the LORD went his way, as soon as
he had left communing with Abraham: and
Abraham returned unto his place.
4. I. Something Atrocious

exceedingly.
2Pet 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom
and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them

ungodly;

and the cities about them in like manner,

the street of the great city, which spiritually
is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our
Lord was crucified.
6. II. An Attainable Appeasement
26) I will spare all the place for their
sakes
Ezek 22:18 Son of man, the house of Israel
is to me become dross: all they are brass,
and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of
the furnace; they are even the dross of
silver.
Ezek 22:30-31 30 And I sought for a man
among them, that should make up the
hedge, and stand in the gap before me for
7. the land, that I should not destroy it: but I
found none.
31 Therefore have I poured out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed
them with the fire of my wrath: their own
way have I recompensed upon their heads,
saith the Lord GOD.
Jer 5:1 Run ye to and fro through the
streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and
know, and seek in the broad places thereof,

Nah 1:5-7 5 The mountains quake at him,
and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at
his presence, yea, the world, and all that
dwell therein.
6 Who can stand before his indignation?
and who can abide in the fierceness of his
anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and
the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the
day of trouble; and he knoweth them that
trust in him.
10. Lev 26:23 And if ye will not be reformed
by me by these things, but will walk
contrary unto me;
Lev 26:24-25 24 Then will I also walk
contrary unto you, and will punish you yet
seven times for your sins.

shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and

cities, I will send the pestilence among you;
and ye shall be delivered into the hand of
the enemy.

this?

this?

12. Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the
north country by the river Euphrates.
1Thess 4:6-7 6 That no man go beyond
and defraud his brother in any matter:
because that the Lord is the avenger of all

testified. 7 For God hath not called us unto
uncleanness, but unto holiness.
