1) Around 1 in 30 baby boomers (those born between 1945-1965) have hepatitis C, and most do not know they have been infected.
2) Hepatitis C can hide in the body for many years without symptoms and is not included in routine bloodwork, allowing it to potentially cause liver damage or liver cancer if left untreated.
3) The CDC recommends all baby boomers get tested for hepatitis C with a simple blood test, as testing is the only way to know for sure if someone is infected, and if detected, hepatitis C can now be cured with treatment.
