Energy Guardians United Kingdom- Leeds City Council Appointed Energy Guardians A team of volunteers that work to ensure that machines, computers, lights and anything which uses energy is only switched on when it is needed. Could be a collaborative between multiple city governments
Hartlepool, England and Toronto, Canada Adopt a Plot Run through Parks and Recreation Departments or Environmental Commissions Residents can take on a plot of land and plant trees, shrubs and flowers  helping wildlife.  Used to re-introduce native vegetation, trees and plants to communities.
Ecycling with the E.P.A Part of the Research Conservation Challenge Plug-In to Ecycling Campaign Why is recycling electronics is important? In 2005, used or unwanted electronics amounted to approximately 1.9 to 2.2 million tons. Of that, about 1.5 to 1.9 million tons were primarily discarded in landfills, and only 345,000 to 379,000 tons were recycled.

Editor's Notes

  1. U.S. Communities has saved local governments over 500 million cumulatively and total purchasing through the program in 2006 exceeded 1 billion dollars.
  2. Green Building Initiatives should be in accordance with LEED( Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Pass ordinance to establish guidelines for buildings and new construction within jurisdictions.
