The
I wonder if my country is safe
I hear the voice of my heart
I see the beauty of the country
                     I want a healthy son.
                     I am a great king

I pretend to be a superhero to my country
                     I feel unhappy
I touch the sky in my dreams
I worry about my countrys future
I cry because I dont have a son
                     I am a great king

I understand that not everything is possible
I say more lies than truth
                     I dream of supremacy
I try to hide the real me
                     I hope to be richer
                     I am Henry the great.

                                                                                                                   04/12/2012

I, King Henry the VIII, welcome you to this celebration of beauty, knowledge and entertainment.
Do not be intimidated by my presence amongst you. I know many of you think you know me. You only know me as the man
whose personality wasnt the most pleasant, who had six wives and who established the Church of England.
I will try to create a better picture of myself and explain my place in history through my own words. Born in 1491, I was
crowned King of England in 1509, at the age of 17. As you well can imagine, being King comes with a huge responsibility.
That of leading a country and assuring a male heir to the throne, somebody who would avoid rival claims to the throne.
Monarchs rarely do things, marriage included, out of love or choice. They have to bear the interest of the crown in mind. That
is why I married my brother Arthurs wife, Catherine of Aragon, hoping she would give birth to a boy. However, after 20 years
of marriage, Catherine had given birth to six children, but only one survived. And that was a girl. When I announced my
desire to divorce Catherine, the situation proved to be more difficult than I had expected as the Roman Catholic Church
doesnt believe in divorce. So I took control of the matter and had myself appointed the head of the new Church of England.
This way I could decide for myself what was right and what was wrong. After all, a King cannot be expected to continue
being married with a woman who does not
My next wife was the beautiful Anne Boleyn, but she also proved to be a big disappointment so she was taken to the Tower
of London and executed by beheading.
My true wife was Jane Seymour. She was the only one who gave me the thing I wanted the most a son. Unfortunately,
she died 12 days later. I mourned her death, but in a time when infant mortality rate was so high, I had to make sure I would
have more heirs. This and the fact that I needed to establish an alliance with Germany led to my marriage with Anne of
Cleves. The marriage was never consumed and the alliance didnt prove to be advantageous so six months later I divorced
    her.
The name of my fifth wife was Catherine Howard and she was much younger that I was. She, also, was adulterous and
deceiving, so I sentenced her to imprisonment in the Tower of London and then to death.
A King demands and expects and his orders have to be respected. A King is a warrior, somebody who fights for what he
wants. And I wanted a male heir at all costs.
My sixth and last wife was Katherine Parr and she outlived me. She was a good companion; well educated, of good birth and
    cheer.
What I would like to be remembered for is more than my six wives. I want people to know that the main reason behind my
actions was making England strong. I wanted a strong male heir to follow me on the throne. I invested in the English navy so
that our country could attack and not be attacked. I want to be remembered for the fine castles I built and last, but not least, I
want to be remembered as somebody who fought to achieve his goals, at all costs.
                                                                                             By: Velescu Antonela

Day 5
                       Conclusion
                       s
1.Participating in this project we got to know
                     each other better .
                     2. We had fun while we were doing something
                     educational.
                     3. Although it was a challenge at first because
our personality was known only for his cruelty
and ambition, we discovered great things that
have remained in the shadows, like Henry's
                     musical talent.
                     4. This project helped us to improve our English
                     skills in an interactive way.
