Grunge originated in Seattle in the early 1990s as an evolution of punk rock. It was characterized by distorted vocals, dirty aesthetics, and lyrics expressing contempt for society and mainstream culture. Popular grunge bands included Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Screaming Trees. The style was typified by ripped jeans, tank tops, and long or short, messy hair. After the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who brought grunge into the mainstream, the genre receded somewhat back underground, though it continues to influence rock music.

3. ORIGIN
• It was born in Seattle in the early nineties as an evolution of
punk. The word means grime grunge refers to a disheveled and
dirty aesthetic distortions in the voices and the in look. Grunge
influence was decisive in the further development of rock. It is

4. STYLE
• They wore ripped jeans (tight or wide, normal, and broken knees or
completely), tank groups like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam.
They also wore classic shoes, wide or comfortable trainers as Allstar
(converse) or Dr. Martens boots. The hair in short to rock.
They also used shorts as I used to use Eddie Vedder in the 90's.
5. CARACTHERISTICS
The grunge rebel against this consumerist society that is guided by
what the TV tells them to do, listen, be, think, read and view.
Grunge was all chaos that would drive them crazy politicians. Many
of its lyrics dealt with anguish, hopelessness, lack of interest in the
system; there are letters of love, friendship, hatred and senseless life,
always seeking to reach Nirvana. Although many were (or are)
depressants, were also crazy and enjoyed the beer and joints.

7. KURT COBAIN

around the world, the genre has slowly returned to his birthplace: the
'underground’. Loads of musicians played there, so it was the place where
grunge had been born. Kurt Cobain was a great example for all those who
loved and had such life style grunge. He also made that grunge did not
form part of the society for being different. One of his most famous
quotes was:
