Adept at conducting research related to nanofiltration and other membrane processes, including membrane modification, membrane performance evaluation and surface characterization.
SKILLS
Membrane Separation, Polymer Science, Reaction Kinetics, Nanofiltration, Membrane Surface Modification, Surface Characterization, Polymerization
HPLC, AFM, FESEM, XPS, ATR-FTIR, Contact Angle
Matlab, AutoCAD, C++, Polymath, Fluent, Gaussian, COMSOL, CHEMCAD
OBJECTIVE
Seek research & development, scientist or postdoctoral positions that could make use of my experience as a PhD candidate with both Masters and Bachelor degrees also in chemical engineering
Extend my research experience and skills to a variety of fields related to chemical, environmental or material engineering especially membrane processes.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Aug 2011 Present
Research Assistant (Advisors: Prof. Xianghong Qian, Prof. Ranil Wickramasinghe)
Developed magnetically responsive micro-mixing self-cleaning nanofiltration membranes that are effective in the anti-fouling of nanofiltration processes by breaking concentration polarization layer, therefore extended the membranes operation cycle by at least 200% and improved 2000ppm MgSO4 retention by 60%~150%.
Carried out theoretical studies to nanofiltration processes, together with the fouling and concentration polarization of nanofiltration membranes using mathematical models that are combined with experimental works.
Successfully conducted magnetically responsive micro-mixing functionalization of nanofiltration membranes using a series of chemical reactions, including hydrophilic polymer chain formation on membrane surface using SI-ATRP (surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization).
Performed nanofiltration membrane performance tests under various conditions and using different retended species to investigate concentration polarization and membrane fouling.
Completed mathematical modeling of ion transport and concentration polarization during nanofiltration processes under varied conditions.
NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,, DEPARTMEN OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Research Assistant (Advisor: Prof. Joseph Bozzelli) May 2010 Aug 2011
Fundamental research and theoretical investigation to molecular structure and reaction kinetics of small organic molecules using computational chemistry and mathematical modeling.
XIAMEN UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Jan 2008 Jul 2008
Research Assistant (Advisor: Prof. Qingbiao Li)
Successfully combined anaerobic and aerobic biological reaction processes to treat salty domestic sewage containing large amount and different kinds of organic pollutants. Improvements of daily COD removal by at least 50% leading to construction of a new sewage treatment plant in Xiamen University.
