Guide for RSU Library users how to work with Union Catalogue (updated)
- 1. 1 Benefits of registered user working with state level libraries electronic Union Catalogue Information for RSU Library users
- 2. 2 Search information resources; Request RSU Library information resources, available at Scientific literature loan department and Branch Library at RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (Annimui転as Blvd 26a); Once prolong information resources borrowed at Scientific literature loan department and Branch Library at RSU Medical Education Technology Centre; Save search results at E-shelf; Check your user information, list of borrowed information resources, returning terms, fines (if return time is overdue), loan history list, hold request statuses. As registered user you can:
- 3. 3 You can connect to Union Catalogue from RSU homepage section Library: http://www.rsu.lv/eng/services/library
- 4. 4 For search only RSU library resources, activate the RSU library catalogue
- 6. 6 Choose RSU Library User ID number and password can be obtained from any library service point. Instead ID you may write a personal identification number (without hyphen)
- 7. 7 Activate section My Library Card
- 8. 8 For access to your loans information click on an underlined number
- 9. 9 Password should contain only Latin letters and numbers!
- 10. 10 For renewing your loans click on the underlined number
- 11. 11 Activate section Renew. The loan can be renewed only if the particular copy has not been requested by another user
- 12. 12 User can renew the loan only once for same duration the information resource was borrowed (3 days, one week or 2 weeks) Due date is renewed
- 13. 13 For prolong resources taken at Scientific literature loan department call 67409176, write biblioteka@rsu.lv or visit Library at Dzirciema Street 16, G-block, 2nd floor. For prolong resources taken at Branch Library at RSU Medical Education Technology Centre call 67061562, write bibl.mitc@rsu.lv or biblioteka@rsu.lv, or visit Annimui転as Blvd 26a. If you need information resource longer (more renews):
- 14. 14 If return date is overdue, after logon the user receives notification
- 15. 15 Activate section Loans for see the sum of accrued fines
- 16. 16 To request necessary information sources, you must first carry out a search
- 17. 17 There are five different search types available in Union Catalogue: Basic Search, Multi-field, Multi- base, Advanced Search and CCL (Common Command Language). To select the necessary search type click on the link. For more information see the Help, section Search. The easiest search type is Basic Search. Search types available in Union Catalogue
- 18. 18 When necessary information source is found, choose sublibrary RSU: Scientific Literature Loan Department or RSU: Library-Anninmuizas Blvd.
- 19. 19 If in the column Due date is some date, the item is borrowed by another user. Select item with status On shelf and click on Request

- 21. 21 The status of your hold requests you can check in section My Library card. To see description and request status, click on underlined number. If information source is requested from Scientific Literature Loan Department, loan it at Dzirciema Street 16, G-block, 2nd floor, if from Branch Library loan it at Annimui転as Blvd 26a within three working days.
- 22. 22 If all items are loaned you can request and will be put on a queue. Select the item and click on Request

- 24. 24 The status of your hold requests you can check in section My Library card. To see description and request status click on underlined number.
- 25. 25 You can create your own set of records and save it in My e-shelf. If you are an identified patron, the records that you save in My e-shelf are not be deleted when your session is over.
- 26. 26 You can enter notes for My e-Shelf
- 27. 27 To view all the records that are currently saved, click My e-Shelf from the menu bar.
- 28. 28 Save/Mail the records that are currently in My e-shelf; Delete records from My e-shelf; Create folders and move records to them; Delete and rename folders; Empty My e-shelf My e-shelf allows you to:
