Age UK held a Gym Open Day on July 10, 2012 to encourage physical activity in older adults over age 55. Participants could gain free entry to over 270 partner gyms across the country, receive demonstrations on gym equipment, and obtain information on health and wellbeing. The event aimed to inspire older people to take up new physical activities or try out local gyms.

Aim:
To inspire older people to think about physical activity, to take
up a new activity or to give the gym a go.
On Gym Open Day older people over the age of 55 had the
opportunity to:
