 A transfer is the appointment of a member to
another position within the same department or
elsewhere in the organization, involving duties
and responsibilities of a comparable nature and
having a similar pay grade and salary.
 In certain circumstances, the transfer
may be at a lesser pay grade or salary
 Transfer is also say like, moving of an
employee from one job to another in the
same level of responsibility with same status
& pay
 Promotion is upward job reassignment,
Demotion is downward while Transfer is
horizontal job reassignment.
To satisfy the employees needs
To utilise the skill & knowledge of
employee.
To correct inter-personal conflict.
To punish the employee.
Give relief to overburdened employee.
i. Production Transfer- Due to change in production

ii. Replacement Transfer- Long standing in same job
iii. Rotation Transfer- To increase versatility of employee
iv. Shift Transfer- To change the shift
v. Remedial Transfer- To correct wrong placements
