Vampires are the author's favorite Halloween creature. They originated from Slavic and Chinese folk tales but became popularized in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Vampires are typically depicted as fast, intelligent beings with superhuman abilities that drink human blood, especially from the neck. According to legend, the main way to kill a vampire is by driving a wooden stake through its heart, though they also have weaknesses to mirrors, sunlight, silver, holy water, crosses, garlic and wooden stakes.
