HAND AND WHISTLE SIGNALS
. HAND SIGNALS in scouting = less talk,
more work used to minimize talking
used for giving orders important
during hikes, expeditions and places
where silence is needed
DIFFERENT HAND SIGNALS
1. ALL GO AWAY
• Leader pushes her hands forward
• girls move faster– give more pressure to the
push
2. PATROL IN LINES
• extend both hands forward at shoulder level
• fists closed
3. STAND
• with left or right hand, leader moves her hand
upward
4. PATROL CORNERS
• bend both hands
• right hand upward and left hand horizontally
at chest level
• rest the elbow of the right arm on the closed
fist of the left arm
5. SILENCE
• raise right arm at shoulder level
6. ONE LINE FORMATION
• both arms extended sideways
7. ALL SIT DOWN
• with right or left hand
• bounce hand up and down
8. ASSEMBLE OR COME BACK
• raise right hand above head
• move wrist counterclockwise
9. DOUBLE TIME or FASTER
• closed fist
• move bended arm up and down with force
10. LEADERS COME HERE
• extend left arm sideward
• bended right arm up at shoulder level
11. FORM A SEMI-CIRCLE
• both arms bent at chest level in semi-circle
formation(middle fingers don’t touch
12. FORM A CIRCLE
• both arms encircled in front, fingers touching
13. ALL COME HERE
• right hand waves at the girls
• wave towards leader
14. TWO LINE FORMATION
• both arms extended forward

1. GET ATTENTION, COMMAND SILENCE, STAY PUT
1 long whistle
2. DANGER, ALARM, EMERGENCY.
3 long whistles
3. GET OUT OF TENTS, ROOM; SCATTER, GO FARTHER
4 long, slow whistle
4. PATROL LEADERS ARE NEEDED COME UP TO YOU
3 short whistles + 1 long whistle
5. MEAL TIME, NAP, REFRESHMENTS CALL FOR
GRUB
alternate long and short whistles
