What Are Hard Skills?
 Hard Skills are:
 Where the rules stay the same
 Can be taught in a school / from a book
 Involve Intelligence (IQ)
What Are Soft Skills?
 Soft Skills are:
 Where the rules fluctuate
 Not really taught in schools / trial and error
 Involves Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Why Are Hard Skills
Important In Judging?
 The rules!
 We should have an excellent grasp of them
 The penalties!
 Each infraction has a fixed penalty (unless the head judge
decides otherwise)
 The Processes!
 What needs to be done during a tournament (Deck Checks,
Pairings)
So Are Soft Skills Important?
