2. Nationally known artist and Harper Continuing Education Instructor, Pamela Olin, works on her latest piece: an archway made of welded steel boxes put together by welding students.
3. Are these the hands of a welder? Indeed they are! Pamela Olin's freshly manicured hands, leopard-print glasses and gold jewelry belie the stereotypes that she says many associate with the art of welding. She'll lead a "Welding for Women" course at Harper College this fall. It's open to all. Pamela says welding is not just for men and "not just for fixing things.¡± Artist Pamela Olin inspects her progress on her latest sculpture: an archway of cascading steel boxes made by welding students. The work will become part of Harper's permanent collection and can be added to as future students go through the welding class.
