Emotional Olfactive
Landscapes
This collection of five Eau de
Parfum fragrances have been
created by Italian noses Marie
Salamagne and Maurizio Cerriza.
Named after Italian locations,
each fragrance is reminiscent of a
time or a place within each region
thats captured in a Polaroid by
photographer Laura Sciacovelli.
Cortina is a rich and persistent
fragrance, supported by a vetiver
background softened by musk and
made gentle by musk mallow. This
mixture is enriched with persistent
and overflowing floral essences,
and a touch of lively pink pepper.
Green notes of ivy and violet rise
rapidly from this fragrance.
Sicily is a luminous and mineral
fragrance, transparent yet full-
bodied. It creates a dreamlike
atmosphere by weaving together
precious and noble raw materials,
such as agarwood and myrrh,
plus the unusual notes of hay and
helychrisum. Sicily is in the light
and glow of neroli and freesia,
and in the baroque intertwined
wood.
Beautyoverview
Sardinia, a land of contrasts, is celebrated with a
green and fresh fragrance that blends green notes
(tea leaves), flowery notes (broom) and woody
notes (cedarwood and vetiver). Freshness arises
from this fragrance.
Rome evokes two apparently contradictory
feelings, strength and sweetness, by
carefully mixing exclusive ingredients
that are active in stimulating succession:
incense, reminiscent of the mystery of
everything holy; patchouli for sensuality;
and elemi that brings you back to
vetiver.
Venice is a dense and captivating
fragrance that gathers up its
elements and transforms them
into notes and harmony. From
the first all the ingredients appear
clearly overcoming the traditional
head, heart and base notes that are
associated with most fragrances. The
main theme is a rare raw material,
Firmenich, which is the leading
element of the sea breeze blend.
All fragrances are 100ml and retail
at 贈78 each.

WelcomeEditors letter
Welcome to the autumn/winter 2010/11 Beyond Expectation
magazine your gateway to fabulous! We hope this edition will
add to your knowledge of this seasons big trends and other
developments in the fashion industry. Heres whats in store
As well as our overview of whats hot for the coming season, we take
a look at one of the top brands of the moment Halston Heritage,
which is a sister brand to the celebrated Halston range, founded by
the colourful and free-living designer Roy Halston Frowick. Though
famed now for its connection with Sarah Jessica Parker, during the 70s it
defined the disco era and was the label to be seen in.
Pre-collections reviews how important pre-season collections have
become. And, of course there is a round-up of what to look out for in
beauty, and the Foodmarket this time focusing on the best in new,
exclusive and limited edition drinks and drink makers.
With leather making another comeback this year,
we review essential tips and techniques for its care and cleaning that
you can share with our customers. In X, Y or G? we reveal how
our customer base is evolving, and how an awareness of
what drives different customer groups can help us to build
long-term relationships with them.
As always, this is your magazine and your opinions are
important to us, so if you have any suggestions on how to
improve Beyond Expectations please let us know.
In the meantime, happy reading!

WOMENSWEAR
trendsThe new season sees the return of some old favourites,
with an emphasis on simple, luxurious quality.
Cast your eyes over the new few pages to see
some of the delights that our buyers have purchased,
and look to spot the following key trends.
Minimalism
First up, minimalism. An understated,
minimalist approach is not as easy as it
looks. Thankfully, Pheobe Phil works it to
perfection at Celine. Stella McCartney and
hot label The Row also show you how to
rock this key look.
Outerwear
Outerwear is so chic this autumn, youll
never want to take it off. Were talking
embroidered coats by Erdem, plus
ponchos and capes galore. Our faves?
Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rag and Bone,
Carven, Dome and Helmut Lang.
Two-piece dressing
Well, not quite, but lets just say that
theres a whole movement away from
the frock towards two-piece dressing.
Trousers galore is what autumns for,
but also skirts, glorious skirts, have re-
emerged as covetable pieces. Look no
further than Dries van Noten and Marc
Jacobs for out faves.
Youll want to wrap up in something
super chic. Were already dreaming
of autumnal leaves and crisp October
mornings just from ogling the array of
camel coats weve got lined up for you.
Chloe, Celine, Alexander McQueen: the
camel line-up is quite something.
Slouch
For the slouch lovers, youll be thrilled
to know that track pants are hot, hot,
hot. Were talking luxe sportswear. Think
divinely tailored tracksuit bottoms at
LAgence, Elizabeth James. And our
thanks to Markus Lupfer Sweatshirts
have never been so dressy! Jonathan
Saunders and Proenza Schouler also work
this look down to a (grey cotton) tee
Military
Finally, for all you top guns, theres an
army of style coming your way courtesy
of military dealings and khaki colours
at Dries van Noten, Acne, Marc by Marc
Jacobs and Lousie Goldin.
Leather
The perennial favourite is back and its
importance merits a dedicated layout in
the magazine!

Forget tweed and tartan. This winter leather, shearling and
suede are tous la rage and used in adventurous ways by the
likes of Opening Ceremony, 3.1 and Rag Bone.
Skinny leggings abound, Preen Lines suedes are divine, plus others at
Drome, Bess, Acne, Elizabeth James.
Then theres leather as dress fabric and trim as seen at Christopher Kane,
The Row, Haider Ackermann, Rick Owens, Alexander McQueen, Altuzarra, Bess,
Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang and Sykes. Take a look at some of the key pieces
that show off the fantastic versatility of leather.
Use our top tips to ensure this important purchase stays looking its most fab!
Our top tips
Treat your new leather products with a leather protector (making sure to
carefully follow the instructions).
Hang products on a wide-padded hanger (metal ones will distort the shape),
leaving a gap either side to allow for breathing. Never use a plastic cover as
they dry the leather out.
Retain the shape: stuff handbags with tissue, and use a shoe tree.
Try not to wear leather shoes daily, as they will absorb moisture from your
feet. Allowing shoes to dry will prolong their life.
Avoid very humid or dry environments, as well as direct sunlight.
If your garment gets wet - dont put it on the radiator! Allow it to air dry and
use leather conditioner to restore flexibility.
If the leather gets wrinkled allow it to hang out naturally, though you can iron
it if you wish. Set the iron on the rayon setting, and use brown paper between
the iron and the leather.
Remove winter salt deposits by sponging them off with clean water.
Dont spray perfume or hairspray near leather as they will stain or discolour it.
Consider wearing a scarf with jackets to avoid your skins oils being
transferred into the leather.
If your leather does need cleaning, you can attempt it yourself using mild
liquid detergent or saddle soap (making sure you try a hidden patch first).
However, it is best to get it cleaned professionally. But even then, not all
cleaners will know the correct ways of cleaning leather so make sure they
do! And dont forget that professional cleaning includes refinishing the colour
tint, as leather will lose some of its dye during the dry-cleaning process. Be
prepared for a possible change in colour, and make sure that matching items
are cleaned together.
