The Problem
 We asked 276 people what drawbacks they found when
setting up gift registries:
Registries are for
mainstream gift items with
little or no room for smaller
sources of local and fair
traders, that carry
unusual, higher quality, or
more sustainable/eco items.

Registries are limited to
stores that have them, and
those stores tend to be big
retailers with mass-market
items.

Can't buy from
smaller shops! Or
local stores!

I prefer
supporting
independent
businesses, but I
found it easier to
register with a big
chain store.

What if I want to go
outside the mainstream
stores? Target doesn't
carry everything that I
want.
What are we doing about it?

Hinteds First Market: Wedding Registries
 $19 billion spent every year on wedding gifts in the US
 2 million couples marry annually
 75% create wedding registries*
 A typical registry is valued at $5,158 and contains 153 gifts*

 Hinted aims to serve 1 in 4 couples that register
 Couples will select gifts via the Hinted app to fill15% of their
registries (23 gifts)

 Through this, Hinted expects to generate over $37 million
annually through wedding registries
 Hinted generates revenue through a 3.5% transaction fee +
$2 from each item sold

Progress
 Since Hinted LLC was born in July, 2013:
 83% of local shops we have spoken with have pre-signed into
the Hinted shop network
 The Hinted mobile app has been prototyped; development of the
beta-version app is in progress
 Local retail partners in Washington DC are preparing to launch
the Hinted app with their customers in January 2014
