Indian painting has a long tradition dating back to ancient rock paintings. There are several genres of Indian paintings that developed over time, including murals from the 2nd century BC to 10th century AD, miniatures from the 11th to 12th century, Mughal paintings from the 16th to 19th century that blended Indian, Persian, and Islamic styles, and Rajput paintings from the 17th century in western India. Regional styles also emerged like Mysore, Tanjore, Kangra, and Pattachitra paintings in South India focused on Hindu gods and mythology. Modern Indian paintings from the 20th century onward became more realistic and expressional, while 3D paintings are now popular in the 21st

MURALS :- Large works executed on solid structures like
earlier rock works.
2nd Century(BC) to 8th -10th century(AD).
MINIATURES:- Small scale paintings. (11th -12th century).
5. Then comes the Mughal paintings . Its a particular type of
painting style which was practiced and emerged during the
period of Mughal Empire. i.e.; during 16th-19th century.
These paintings are unique blend of Indian , Persian and
Islamic styles
6. then the Rajput paintings came up in glow in 17th century in
mainly western part of india .
7. Then the south Indian shown up. These paintings are mainly based on hindu gods
and Hindu mythology and were very liked for paintings based on festive events in
south India.

8. Then all of them blended together and named Madhubani as it contains every
part above mentioned.
9. Now , we are In modern era i.e.; 20th century onwards.
Modern paintings are like more realistic and expressional.
