Weve built on solid foundations . . .
Managing director Ian Hodgkinson, the
friendly and professional face of
Hodgkinson, is a great believer in building
good relationships with both the people
with whom he works and those for whom
he works as long as they share his
unremitting commitment to quality.
That is something on which he wont
5. compromise.

Hodgkinson 4
A family affair . . .
Quality has been a priority for Hodgkinson throughout the
familys 70-year involvement with the building trade.
Ian makes no secret of his determination to head the best
company of its kind in the fields of construction and the
provision of bricklaying teams.
Thats why his pledge to customers is a simple one: At
Hodgkinsons, you will deal with caring, qualified, honest and
willing personnel who actually want to help you . . .
6. No ifs No buts.
Hodgkinson 5
The company . . .
From its new, purpose-built offices at Pride Park in Derby,
Hodgkinsons offers a comprehensive range of supply and
construction services in brick, stone, glassblock work and
flint for housing, factory, retail, specialist and prestigious
development and refurbishment projects in locations as
diverse as Ilkeston and Iceland.
Providing solutions for the most challenging
projects anywhere in the UK is a Hodgkinson speciality.
The company has 150 bricklayers, stone masons, forklift
drivers and labourers, together with a database of several
thousand tradesmen on whose services it can call.
In short, we are big enough to deliver on contracts with
贈multi-million price tags but not so big that we lose sight of
quality standards on those with a 贈multi-thousand label.

All employees likely to be employed in a
sensitive area undergo a thorough vetting
procedure co-ordinated by a senior
member of the Hodgkinson team.
11. Its a further indication of the confidence
the authorities and senior officials have in
us, says Ian.
Further afield, Hodgkinson has

In the news . . .
Hitting the headlines for all the right reasons isn't a new
experience for the team at Hodgkinson, especially MD Ian.
He's something of a celebrity these days after appearing in
the Sky television series 'Renovation Creation' making over a
Victorian house in Liverpool with former Big Brother winner
Craig Phillips, helping the BBC's Diarmuid Gavin produce the
Art House Garden in Nottingham, supporting the launch of
14. Craig Phillips' new building skills centre in Liverpool (Cherie
Blair performed the opening ceremony), and presenting a
paper on health and safety in the construction industry at a
major conference attended by top government minister
Patricia Hewitt.
More recently, Ian was privileged to meet the Queen at the
official opening of the new National Memorial Arboretum at
Alrewas.

In the news continued:
Hodgkinson Builders supplied the 250,000 bricks and built
the primary structures of the dramatic, circular memorial
which features a slit in the east wall to allow a beam of
sunlight to fall on the focal point centre stone exactly at 11am
on November 11 - Remembrance Day. Hodgkinson also
supplied some of the stone masons.
Locally, he's even better known for his big heart, especially
when children want help.
Among other things, Ian has sponsored SmalleyJuniors
football club, supported Ladywood FC and Eastwood Town
15. FC, and put up cash to help stage a charity pantomime to
pay for a trip to Disneyland for a Nottingham girl suffering
from a brain tumour and to help youngsters affected by acts
of terrorism, particularly the London tube bombings.

Stop Press:
Ian is to become the first person ever presented with a
Rotary Citation for Outstanding Service by the Rotary Club of
Hope Valley in the Derbyshire Peak.
Early in 2008, Ian played a leading role in the first campaign
of its kind in the world designed to improve the quality of life
for victims of Charles Bonnet Syndrome, a condition that
causes blind and partially-sighted people to see phantom
visions. Many spend their lives under a black cloud because
they do not feel able to speak about their hallucinations for
fear of being thought to be in the early stages of mental
illness.
16. Ian was praised by the partners behind the initiative - the
Rotary Club of Hope Valley and Sheffield Royal Society for
the Blind - for funding the design and print of the CBS
awareness-raising leaflets.
